My budgie has been making weird head movements for the past day or two while either vomiting or trying to reguitiate food. It's sort of a circle bobbing head motion. I do have two females. He's been doing this for about 24 hours, so I think he's likely sick. I've removed him from the cage, removed the bird seed, put him in much smaller cage, and put a heat lamp on him.
It's a weird circular head motion, while he looks like he needs to vomit, and his neck feathers also appear to be ruffled which is unusual.
Any guesses as to what he's doing or what's wrong?

He's consistently trying to vomit and nothing is coming up.

Could you please attach a video for everyone to take a look at it better?

My budgie Sky(sadly passed on) once did something like that, brought her to the vet and found out she had a case of worms. This might be happening with your budgie, hope he gets better!

It is also possible that he has a seed husk or the like caught in his throat or in the slit on the roof of his mouth, the choanal opening. It is actually a very typical vomiting motion. How old is this budgie?

He's approximately 2 years old. He stopped doing the above over the past 24 hours, but he still looks like he may start vomiting at any moment. There's only 1 avian doctor in my city and it runs about $300 to bring a budgie in. Not doing it.

nikm755 Where in the world are you placed? Could you check for vet services via any pet vet application or whatsapp services.. They might be cheaper.. If you can't go for an avian vet, you could try taking the bird to a vet who takes a look at all pets.. something is better than nothing..

There's an application called DrPetsApp, which is mostly an Indian app. I have it downloaded on my android phone. Try looking it up.. if it allows cross country payments it would be a lot cheaper for online consultation when converted to dollars (which seems difficult though). There must be similar applications available however. For this app, there is a variety of option available for consultation

Unfortunately, due to liability there are no vets that will see avian birds in my area without an avian license and theirs only one in the entire city and the bill is enormous. Also, unfortunately, he has passed away when I got home from work. I guess vomiting in Bugies is either an immediate vet visit to an avian licensed vet or can quickly cause death. He was completely normal and within a 24 hour period of time, 12 hours he was vomitting non-stop making these odd movements and not vomiting whatever he was attempting to vomit then he appeared like he was getting better, then I returned home and he was dead. I knew this problem would come eventually. If budgies get sick, they basically need emergency vet care. I really loved Mr. Green, but I had no options.

That's so hurtful.. Budgies are very delicate and they don't show up issues until it's too late.. It must have been so painful for him. One of the must haves when you have a budgie in your home is a vet contact on speed dial, some meds and first aid kit. A non avian vet visit also helps sometimes...since I don't have access to avian vets in my area or anywhere nearby.
I'm so sorry for the birdie and your loss..

Yeah, I have no idea what happened. The only lesson I learned is that vomiting is an immediate concern and they need to be brought to a licensed avian vet the next day.
He actually got stuck in a glue trap (my fault) and I brought him to multiple vets who all rejected seeing an avian bird. The one who did was an avian vet and the bill was close to $400 for about a 1 hour visit (but this was my fault and I loved him so I paid it).
So, there really are no options in my area for budgies unless your willing to fork over $400. Thanks for everyone on the forums support and condolences. I really loved Mr. Green the two years I had him.
Hopefully my other two budgies don't end up with the same condition. I'm likely not going to end up owning budgies any further.
Thanks for everyone of the forums help.

Try searching for applications or websites where you can get some vet consultation.. even if you aren't able to contact a local vet, due to legal restrictions, try searching for apps or websites that can let you contact vets from other countries.. It costs us 200 rupees which is pretty affordable.. converting it to dollars would be 3 dollars.. If you can find some websites or apps you can access, you can at least try to get in touch with some vet who can help, just in case in future

I'm sorry that your budgie passed away. It's a shame that he could not have had a vet to help him during his 12 hours of vomiting.
