when is the right time to let your birds out?

I have had my budgies for about 2 months now and I really want to let them out to fly. They are in my shed which also house my other birds and guinea pigs. Yesterday one of my lovebirds escaped out of a door in their cage that I didn't shut properly. After opening up the cage door wide the other then flew out and I left them for about 20 minutes and they both returned to their cage. This got me thinking will my budgies do the same? I really want to see them fly and I think it is really important that they do, but they still don't trust me, would it be wrong to let them out in my shed? If I couldn't catch them what do I do? Any advice would be great thanks x

i have a net to catch mine ....as there not tame....
can you not put a flight in your shed ......

That is the plan for the future, I just wanted to know if I let them out that I could use a net as that is what I was hoping someone would suggest. Thank you

no worrys ....barrie shutt....has made a scoop to catch his budgies ...go on his web site and have a look ..he shows you how to make one.......its so easy .....its beter than a net ....... it gives them less stress...im going to make one when i can ...but a net is ok.....for now...
