Tweetie Pie was in a real mood today. He wanted to eat whatever Buddy was eating but not share it. Buddy was eating wheat grass and Tweetie Pie came over to eat it and chased Buddy away. So Buddy went to eat the spinach leaf and Tweetie Pie came over, chased him away and then ate it. This went for a while until Buddy figured out how to get what he wanted to eat. ]

Several months ago I saw this cute swing and hung it up for the boys to play on. They ignored it. Yesterday I pegged a millet bauble to it and held Buddy up to it to eat. I repeated that today but after he ate a few seeds, I moved my hand just far enough away that he couldn't reach it. My millet junkie jumped on the swing to eat. You can see Tweetie Pie sitting in the cage looking forlorn because he's not got any. He did lean forward like he was going to fly over to the swing but he didn't get up the courage.

Today Buddy was on the swing eating a big bit of millet. Tweetie Pie made a couple of circles trying to land and get the millet. He finally made it! Chased off Buddy and dug into the millet.

It occurred to me today that it has been awhile since I posted pictures of Buddy and Tweetie Pie. I've been pegging bits of millet on places where I want them to play. A couple days ago Buddy sat on the play gym Looking at me to bring the millet. When I didn't come, he started chewing the clip and rattling it. He was rewarded! And just for fun here's some messy beaks as they enjoy their sprouts. Love it when they enjoy what I make for them!

Theyβre enjoying their sprouts there! Your photos are always so sharp and show their colours beautifully. Do you find they eat the beans as well as the sprouts? My lot will pick off the sprouts and turf the beans out. Amazing how far they travel too! The dogs seem to appreciate them. π

Mine, esp Breezie, filters out mung beans and then takes a look at anything else. I have got mixed lentils & brown rice to try with them too (as per TPM's suggestion), after a few days, once breezie feels better.

ariella I give them sprouts in one dish and the lentils/beans in another dish. They will eat the sprouts first and then go to the cooked lentils/beans. They actually love them both. Some mornings I start them with the sprouts and some mornings I start them with the beans. They don't seem to care which they get first and eat both throughout the day. I take out the old food and put in fresh in the early afternoon. I also sprinkle oat bran in with the sprouts. mona my guys eat the green lentils first and then the other stuff! Budgies are just like us - they have their favorites! Glad you are all liking pictures of my babies!

More lovely photos. They both have such pretty faces. It's a great idea clipping the millet in different places.

This afternoon I was sitting beside the budgies' cage enjoying the sunshine and cool breeze and it got quiet - never a good sign. I looked up and Buddy was jumping in and out of his water bowl while Tweetie Pie watched. Ok, I guess you want a bath! I chased him out of the water bowl and put in their bathing bowl. Buddy always gets right in, soaking himself and everything around. Tweetie Pie is such a hot house orchid! He dips his beak first and if it is to his highness' liking, he take a delicate dip. I was planning on cleaning the cage today anyway, so it actually helped that buddy got everything wet. If you don't know which of my budgies is which, you can tell by the description above!
