I collected my first seeding grass of the season today from our garden. I'm not sure who is more excited, me or Willow I think it's Meadow Foxtail and it's the only variety I've seen so far but hopefully more will follow close behind. Today's collection of a few stalks was devoured in minutes

I picked some from my garden this weekend and my little so and so’s ignored it! Not sure why as they couldn’t get enough last week.

I had a lot of grass growth back at the old place. Over here, with summer, there's negligible grass growth. The birdies loved all grasses and plants.. it seems missing from their diet.. Hoping the growth season will be back with the rains in June/July..

I'll need to come through to Edinburgh, I've been all over looking for the first grasses and haven't found one yet 😪 Lucky you willowsmum.

Since my guys are still fairly new to me (less than two years) as well as trying to grow and feed them fresh things including grass, I wasn't sure what would grow year round here for them. I was pleasantly surprised that at least one or another type of grass would grow and seed year round. Right now I have some wheat grass gone to seed that they are enjoying. I've decided to keep the grasses in pots because I'm afraid it might take over my new garden bed.
Happy grass hunting everyone!

I'll need to come through to Edinburgh, I've been all over looking for the first grasses and haven't found one yet 😪 Lucky you willowsmum . I hope it pops up near you soon jellybean. It seems to have appeared overnight here, mainly in damp places. It's growing in wet areas in our garden and I've also seen it in damp roadside verges. Fingers crossed the other varieties follow suit and start to appear soon.
