Yeah, Pippin is officially a chonk. Yuki - 41g Munchy - 43g Indie - 44g All nicely prominent keel bones. Pippin - 52g and you can't feel his keel. He's back to what he was when he moved in.
I gave them half a tsp of pellets per bowl this morning and set a 20 minute timer. They'd all stopped eating after 10 minutes and had only eaten about half, so 1/4 tsp, which is good to know. Now they have fresh food out, and I'll note how often they start calling for food.
Meanwhile, on a semi-related note due to possibly needing to separate Pippin for eating, I need a cage downstairs in the bedroom for a bit, but the Hagen Vision is proving to be the coffee table of cages in that it doesn't want to fit anywhere. But ideally I want the travel cage for separating Pippin/other things.

Does Pippin fly about less than the others though and does he have a bigger frame?

Does Pippin fly about less than the others though and does he have a bigger frame? He is a little bigger, but not massively so, though probably enough to warrant needing a little extra food. He does also feel sturdier overall. He feels about right to me at around 47-48g. I haven't noticed him fly less than the others do. He also isn't constantly looking for food today. Maybe he eats out of boredom when they're in the cage. None of them really play much. Might have a slower metabolism too

Meanwhile, Munchy is singing away.
He is saying the occasional word of budglish, not in that video, he only says something once, but it's not a stream of it like he sometimes does, so not easy to record unless I made a 10 minute video or something.

He still enjoys a shoulder, at least until Yuki gets curious and then disrupts the harmony. I managed to take a slightly longer video which includes some budglish, but also Pippin shrieking in the background! Edit: The longer chat (and obnoxious shrieking fatso in the background) And then Yuki joining us about a minute before Pippin getting curious and coming close scared Munchy away

Very cute. Although I did forget to listen out for Munchy’s words.

They're often quite indistinct anyway! He came for a cuddle a little later and had his afternoon nap.

Munchy has been quite cuddly lately. I think he might have realised that the crook of an elbow is a great spot to rest undisturbed because no one else wants to get that low down on a human. He's also been going straight for his favourite Kevin when he comes out. We did the weekly weigh using the new weighing container today. What flavour of stew would you like? Apart from the odd hop to see if they could get through the lid, they were all pretty chill in there, which made weighing easy. Then they just hopped out when we removed the lid. (The lid has a hole in it too, in case that's not visible in the photos) Unfortunately, OH kindly went on grabbing duty, which meant I forgot to have a feel of them. Going to have to catch them again later. Pippin has lost all of 1g, which I suppose is a reasonable weight loss in one week. I can now just about feel his keel, as of last night when we ended up catching him. Indie stayed the same, which is good because he always feels the skinniest despite not being the lightest. Yuki has lost 1g and Munchy has lost 2g, which may not be as good because they already felt okay to me, so they're the ones I really need to check today. (Just watched Munchy feeding Indie and this may explain the weights!)

Aww to the snuggles in the crook of your arm. Bet you both enjoy that!

I love this and I have one phrase in response to four budgies in a dish.
'Budgie Pie!'
Still trying to get Barney to say that. From time to time I think he has cracked it 🤣

Bowls are cracking. Bowlgate returns. Going to need a few more platforms with recesses now, especially if Gwen needs to stay in a separate cage. (I think I'm just going to find something basic and easy to replace and use the same type of thing for everything.) (One day this blog thread will contain something more interesting again. )

In sort of news, I was planning on rearranging the cage and the breaking bowls have caused me to actually get on and do that. Here's the new layout: I want to get some swings for the top to give a variety of sleeping options, or just for play. I had stretched the sisal boing across the centre of the room as a walkway from one area to another, as well as a wobbling perch. They loved that boing but they kept rubbing their grubby chop beaks against it and it was difficult to clean, so I've made a wooden strand out of spare swing perches, beads and various shapes and sizes of wooden bead that I had lying around. Indie's been on it once or twice, and on the wooden beads rather than the perch parts, but so far they are fairly unsure.
