All beautiful babies! Every time I see pictures of baby budgies, I want to run out and get one! Someone here will be able to help with gender/mutation - I'd just be guessing.

Aren’t they gorgeous! Such a lovely mix of mutations. I wouldn’t be the best person to advise on gender, but we like to ‘have a guess’ and so I would say the first one is female and the rest are males.

I think they may all be males. That's my guess 😁

I think they may all be males. That's my guess 😁 I’m with you on that … they all look to be boys to me, as well.

Well, if they are males we have an interesting conundrum here regarding the cinnamon chicks, #2 and #4.
Cinnamon is sex-linked. Based on the mutations in the clutch we can reverse-engineer what the parents were, cinnamon-wise. The cock would have to be split to cinnamon and the hen normal (non-cinnamon). Hens cannot be split to cinnamon. They either are or are not, But if she were cinnamon, we'd be looking at a lacewing not the albino that she appears to be. SO...
Normal/split to cinnamon cock x normal hen produces NO MALE CINNAMONS. This pairing will produce cinnamon hens.
Which means either:
1. #2 and #4 are hens, or... 2. My monitor is lying to me and those two are not cinnamons, or... 3. The mother hen is a lacewing but the photo does not reveal those markings.
Thoughts?

yellowfacedviolet2 and 4 don't look like hens to me, they definitely look cinnamon. So maybe mum is a lacewing? can you get a lacewing albino?

wow, thanks everyone for your thoughts, alot to process but very interesting, especially the idea of a lacewing albino hen? Didn't even think that was a possibility, just assumed she was albino cause of the red eyes/pink feet, but she does have the very faintest of silvery/grey on her wings. I'll give it another week or two and post clear pics of their ceres in the appropriate thread for better scrutiny. Meanwhile 6 naughty babies are doing well and definitely a handful. Thanks again everyone 😁

That is by definition what a lacewing is--the combination of cinnamon and Ino (albino or lutino). You cannot have any other kind of lacewing. If it's a lacewing it must have those two mutations. Given what cookiewillow just posted, and Marianne Marlow's sharp eyes, I believe the conundrum is resolved. The hen is a lacewing (albino cinnamon) and that accounts for the male cinnamon chicks. It also confirms that her mate is split to cinnamon.
