Once Bramble finishes his initial 3 doses of S76 I intended to give him some Guardian Angel in his water as his poos are still looking a bit watery and I thought it might help him to settle in. I just wanted to check the dosage you guys would recommend for a 'settling in/stressed' bird (i.e. not a really sick bird).
His water cup needs a minimum of 50ml in it in order for him to comfortably reach the water although it can hold more. The online instructions say I should use 1/3 teaspoon per 50ml water but that seems like a lot. I just wondered how much you would usually use? I change his water each morning and evening so would you just dose each fresh water container or just dose his daytime water and leave the overnight water untreated (as he probably won't drink much/any overnight anyway)? Thanks.

Willowsmum I phoned the company who make it and they were very helpful. Did you know it can be sprinkled on the food .

Thanks ffiscool. Hope Max is OK today Thanks ladybird. I saw that but I thought that it might drop to the bottom of the feeder so I was going to go with the in-water option. I have a day or two before I use it so I'll call the Bird Care Company to check if no one advises a particular dosage. Hope all goes well for the vet trip today. Thinking of you and Charlie x

willowsmum, I give one level teaspoon per 150ml of water. I measure it with the little measuring spoons for baking

Thanks jellybean. That ties in with my 1/3 tsp per 50ml. I have a set of measuring spoons for baking which includes a 1/4 tsp measure so I'll base it around that. How often do you replace their treated water?

I replace the treated water every day, giving it a shake / stir in between.

Usually twice a day with the GA, morning and late afternoon but just plain water at bedtime. I rarely give GA though willowsmum, I'll maybe give it if they have a really bad moult, just as a little boost to their system.

Thanks jellybean. Yep, I think the tub (40g) is going to last a LONG time!

A bit late but just wanted to chime in - Guardian Angel can be used on any wet food it will stick to and that the bird will actually eat - even soaked seeds works fine because they ingest it when they shell the seed. The dose is much less on food because more of it is ingested directly than having it diluted in a bunch of water - plus the small amount of water that a Budgie drinks means a lot gets dumped down the drain at the end of the day. So I always put it on soaked seed when I use it.

Thanks jellybean. Yep, I think the tub (40g) is going to last a LONG time! It doesn't last that long tbh Willowsmum because once its opened it has a sell by date. It should state it on the packet. But agree with jellybean that's the exact amount I give my new birds
