Oh no, poor Max. It’s very odd. Hopefully it’s just a weirdness that will settle. And that he recovers ok from the trip. It will all have been so strange for him. (As an aside, when I was a newborn I also smelt funny (not newborn smells!), apparently that’s a sign that newborns aren’t getting enough from their mother’s milk. Obviously that’s a bit different to a baby budgie though! 🤣🐦)

Yes 🤞. Lol, you never know. Maybe it’s like acid reflux. Mind you, when people don’t eat enough it can smell

I had another thought, not what it is, by maybe why still there, we’ll maybe what. Max doesn’t actively seek out poop, but if it’s there, he eats it. So he’s self fuelling it, if there was an issue. Having said that nothing showed up in his poop when tested.

Lol, I have ordered F10 wipes. I wonder if he could wear a nappy.
I was thinking, if he’s going to talk, when might he. I’m sure I hear good boy but he’s not clear
Bailey’s first words were ‘it’s a grey day today’. I can’t remember how old he was at that point

I doubt you would smell anything from his stomach rather than his crop. Food ingested has to go from his crop to his stomach, and the other way round; there is no by-pass. It does sound as though a course of probiotics may be beneficial to him, if you really see it as a problem. I don’t see that it could do any harm.

thank you.. whatever it is, is passing through as his poop did have a smell. He smells quite strong again today. it is so odd. he is fine in himself. Of course, what I don't know is if he would be even more active if he did not have whatever it is.
can i get that online rather than a vet? also any recommendations of any, anyone has used?

Really hope the probiotics help ffiscool. It sounds like a good thing to try.

I spoke to the Birdcare company and ordered Potent Brew. Apparently if he will take it off a spoon, it is much more effective.
I am sure he will but might try the dropper first into his beak if he is amenable.

If it were me, I'd do the opposite and see if he'll take it off the spoon first without catching and holding him. If the breeder fed him off a spoon, he might just come get it. If you've got any plastic spoons, heat one in boiling water and try to shape it like the spoons that are used to feed baby birds.

funnily enough after I posted, I thought that.. I am going to feed him seed on a spoon later and tomorrow, so the stuff won't be a shock. it can go in water, but not as strong
