He didn't squeal but wriggled like a good un! Usually I'm ok at holding a bird still, but just couldn't do it this time. Then he withdrew his legs completely into his body feather! At least by the end of it I knew he was fit and energetic;) I'm dreading doing Boz and Bud. they are both so terrified of being handled that they actually go into a fit and paralyse for about an hour. The last time I had to catch them was during the aviary rebuild and they literally die in my hand. Their legs go stiff, eyes close and I have to lay them on a heat mat on the cage floor to bring them round! I think I can get away with not doing anything with Bud as his claws were trimmed last time I caught him up, but I've seen that Bozs need doing:( These 2 make Cyril look tough!

Oh god I would be terrified of handling them if they went like that!
Most mine do is kick and scream (oh and bite!) to be set free again!

I am terrified Marianne! But now its happened every time I've caught them over the last 4 years I know they pull out of it, but I am very scared that if they are THAT terrified then as they get older they might have heart faliure:(

Would it be worth trying to tame them slightly somehow?!

You really do have a time of it, Nat! I am always a little scared that I will squash something when I hold them as they wriggle and squiggle all over the place. They will be quiet for a bit, but then get going. At least they are a bit more used to it now as I hold them regularly "just because".
Do Boz and Bud feed off each others' fear? That would be scary.

Lol, I'm scared of squashing something too! My friend had her husband hold a teil for a claw trim and it suddenly died in his hands coughing up blood! They were devastated but apparently it was because the teil had an invisable growth (I suppose cyst or tumour) in the lung which ruptured:/ I know Bozs fear is because he has FM and knows he can't escape and fly off. It must make him feel all the more vunerable. Bud is just a big silly thing who can fly well and is perch trained! Crikey I can't imagine catching them both together. I'd have 2 of them playing dead for an hour and that'd do my nut! At least Boz has clear claws so I can do them quite short so they won't grow back to quick! The other possitive is that when he faints in my hand hes not actually wiggling anymore so I can do a good job if I keep my head;) !
