I love her, she looks like Banoffee Pie I'm glad she finally found someone to love her. Most people that get a budgie, do have this idea that they need to get a boy as hens have a bad reputation. The usual nonsense - they wont talk or interact with you. We know this to be untrue.

I know, Marianne Marlow, I did wonder if that was it. This girly just wants lots of love and fuss. She's happiest when on a person right now. She's perfect just the way she is, Hezz. She has a lot of character. skysmum I'm mentally preparing myself for the chaos that may quite possibly ensue!

You're very lucky Ira, I am quite envious. I have never had a hen that liked to be close to me. None of mine were babies when they came to me and definitely had not been handled by anyone. I might have missed this, but how old is Gwen?

I'm not sure you should be. Her claws itch my scalp after a while! She's almost 7 months.

No, she's lovely. I don't have a budgie that comes over to spend time with me at the moment. The closest I have to that is Blithe who sometimes plummets to the floor and then waddles over for me to pick him up, that has happened twice today already. I'm not sure you should be. Her claws itch my scalp after a while! She's almost 7 months.

Pfft! That's a hilarious mental image! Sorry Blithe! Mostly the boys only really come over for the chance of food, unless Munchy is feeling cuddly. Routines like coming out of the cage being the exception. Speaking of the boys, I made chop and they're wiping their mucky faces on the rope perch of all things. And speaking of food, and therefore back to Gwen, she's still not moving around in the cage to eat.

I’m sure Gwen will. I know Gwen has been a few places, so maybe taking a bit longer. I had a few pots of food for Max as he was used to eating on the cage floor. I held up food for a few days at least

ffiscool Yeah, she's at the stage where she kind of looks at the food when you hold it out to her but doesn't give it much attention. Even millet she's only nibbled a few bites of. As long as she eats enough to get her through until she's more comfortable. There's time to concern myself with what she's eating at a later date.

Do you have seed pots on the roof? Will she eat from those?

I take it her droppings are the right colour and well formed?

Annoyingly my hanging pots don't work on the inside of the travel cage. And if she's out she's not paying attention to food on the cage top either.
They're a bit like Yuki's were when I first got him. Thick and green and getting stuck to her underfluffies. The first day there were no solid parts, despite her eating on the journey down.
She has just tapped the disco ball toy briefly, so that's something.

She's nibbled some millet now that I've held it to her.
