I put up the first of my Christmas trees today and thought it would be nice to have a thread where we can share Christmas things. We've already had quite a Christmas discussion in the Forum's got talent thread but I thought a dedicated Christmas thread would be jolly.
This is the tree in my teaching room, the only one that has any kind of colour scheme.

I'm not sure yet ariella . I like to put up another one this weekend but I don't think we'll have time. It might have to wait until next weekend. When do your trees go up? Or are they up already?

They are up. I never used to put decorations up until after my daughter’s birthday (today actually) so I could keep the two very separate but since becoming an adult she has asked to have them up for her birthday. Her boyfriend’s birthday is the day before so the pair of them have a two-day event. This is my main ‘Victoriana’ tree. Every ornament has a story behind it and there are decorations to represent the children and the dogs and those I hold close to my heart. I have to say, I have never stopped using tinsel even though it’s been ‘out of fashion’ for years. Love a bit of tinsel here! The dining room is decorated in green, silver and white, like a winter wonderland. It’s very different to the main tree. This is the tree I flocked. I gave it an extra coat this year a couple of days before it came in. My daughter has a little tree in her room. She bought a new bauble for it at a garden centre she and her bf visited this week and has come home today with another gorgeous one from Longleat, where they spent the day.

Wow! Those trees are all awesome! I'm planning on putting ours up today because OH is out and it will give me something to do. It won't be particularly exciting but I shall take a photo of it later. Edit: I was awake so I figured I might as well get on with it. We have our advent calendars up on the mantlepiece. My housemate bought OH and I the hot chocolate one, and one for herself and her OH, so when i got out my wooden one I put in enough chocolates for all of us. The fabric one on the cupboard door is the one I've had since I was really little. I usually put out the tree on the right, but the one on the left is my housemate's and hasn't been up since we moved in, so I figured that I would put both out, then realised that they were roughly the same height. The Rudolph was from my grandparents several Christmasses back. And my housemate bought us all the stockings with our names on for little presents like chocolates and such.

Happy birthday to your brother ffiscool. Ira it all looks so pretty. How perfectly matched the trees are either side of the fireplace. Love the advent calendars. Your housemate sounds so nice. You clearly all get on well and she is happy with the birds in the house. I bought felt hanging advent calendars for the kids years ago when they were small and fill with something different each day. I still do it now and the one that was my eldest son’s became the dog one when he moved out. Each morning Chester and Lottie sit outside the study door waiting for their treat. They try it on when we head up to bed as well but it doesn’t magically refill! On the night of the 30th (when I hang them ready for the next day), Chester took a wrong turn on the landing when we went up to bed and sat looking at it and the one on Finlay’s door. I think the dogs really love the season. They just sit and watch as I decorate and they have their Christmas bandanas and Lottie has a couple of jumpers. They even have their own personalised stockings under the tree.

ariella She has a cat, I have birds. Her only concerns when I add more birds is their well-being and mine and OH's. (Although not sure our landlord knows just how much bird there now is in the house. ) Aww, the dogs sound cute! OH's family's dogs always have an advent calendar each. Jayjay loves Christmas and is really good at opening presents. Pippin gets really unsettled by the decorating though. (I think it goes with the name)

So cute! That wooden tree is a lot like my wooden advent tree. I tried to add a photo but the server seems to be playing up for me this evening.
Is Eve more aware of Christmas this year? I used to love it watching my bunch when they were little and as babies they loved the lights and then gradually year by year seeing their anticipation and their ability to join in with activities and crafts, etc. (with the exception of Fins due to his autism).

Everyone's trees look really lovely. The video of Chester is so cute too. We didn't have time to do another tree at the weekend but hopefully by next weekend. When I was a kid we didn't put up the tree until after my brother's birthday on the 13th, so it's nice as a adult to be able to put a tree up sooner if I want to. My Christmas plans have changed. We were already having Christmas just the two of but my Mum and Stepdad were coming to stay for an early Christmas celebration at the weekend but we've talked about it and due to increased worries about covid they've decided not to come. It's a sensible decision as the motorway services would probably be crowded and I wouldn't want them to mix with so many people. It's not too long since we last saw them - they visited for our civil partnership at the end of October. And they came in September too. Prior to the September visit we'd not seen them for 19 months because of lock downs and covid regulations. We will have some nice Zoom chats instead and they can stay home in the warm I'm still really looking forward to Christmas. I'm going to make a gingerbread house. I've bought a kit in the past but I will make the ginger bread this year. I haven't decided everything else that I'm going to bake yet but I will definitely be making Christmas biscuits.
