I hope everyone is in good health,
He vomited last night a couple of times then he went to sleep and he slept well, this morning he was normal when he woke up chirping and all, then he started vomiting and yellow slime covered his head and chest, he is calm now and we are contacting a vet who is only available on the phone, we don’t want to take him to the available vet for two reasons, firstly the stress, secondly and mainly that the vet couldn’t even tell if he is a budgie or lovebird, he even told us not to bring him in for every thing, so we don’t trust him much, I will update you when the phone vet replies. We got (metronidazole 125 liquid) we are thinking about giving him this in case the vet didn’t reply, any thoughts?
please any kind of input would be greatly appreciated.
He has a liver issue, (recurring bruised long beak and nails) so we are trying to limit any chemical intakes and medicines because it use to always mess him up

How are his droppings? Did he overdose on herbs? (sometimes, in the past, if my lot have eaten too much basil/dill or really fragrant herbs they have vomited) Have you tried some apple cider vinegar in his water? (I cannot remember the dose! Hezz Shirls or someone else will hopefully tell you what that is)

1tsp per 500ml is usually recommended for acv. Thanks so much, I regularly add ACV 3 drops every 100 ml Is that enough or should I do as suggested Above?

It’s so worrying when something like this happens. I really hope it was a one-off reaction to something and he’ll remain in good health.

If he has liver issues, it is possible that he is needing his liver support supplement increased. If he regularly gets ACV in his water, it is doubtful that it is any kind of infection causing the vomiting. What and how much are you giving him for his liver disease?

Hello Hezz, Hope you and your family are doing well and healthy, So you’re saying that the vomiting is probably from his liver issue, I used milk thistle (3 drops in every 100 ml) for a while then I realized that his beak and his brother’s beak with similar liver issue signs (long bruised beak and nails) Started getting long so much faster, in a matter of days their beaks would be so long, so I got worried and stopped it for a while, but I just recently ordered a new bottle to start again, do you think 3 drops are enough? And should it be daily or 2-3 times a week? I would greatly appreciate your input Hezz, and thanks so much for your help.

Give it to him every day, three drops into 100mls. I think you should see improvement relatively quickly. Dropping his liver support may well have brought on the vomiting. He may still need more than the three drops given what you have said above, but that is a good starting point.
