So, funny story... Earlier this year, my father asked me if I would like some lovebirds for Christmas. After some thought and research, I said sure. Eventually, I changed my mind, because I felt that I couldn't provide all the attention a lovebird needs. (Also, I don't think they get along with parakeets, do they?) But I suppose I forgot to actually tell him that. He called me into the living room to give me an early Christmas present, and I'm sure you can see where I'm going with that. So I now have two lovebirds. They're a lot bigger than I expected, but very cute and very pretty (I thought they were conures at first; I immediately felt dreadful, because I know absolutely NOTHING about conures.) and I love them already.
I'm trying not to have a pessimistic attitude about it, but it's a given to worry about what will change and what I can and can't provide. I'm especially worried, since my nephew is visiting later today and will be sleeping over for a day or two, and I'm worried he might scare them. But there is nothing I can really do about it, so I think the best thing to do is just try to be the best lovebird owner I can be. Last year, when I got my parakeets, my father yelled at me and threatened to take them away because I was asking so many questions, so I'm kind of scared to ask him anything. I figured the next best thing to do (and probably the best thing; my dad clearly knows little to nothing about animals) was come here and ask you all for help.
Thanks in advance.

I don't really know much about lovebirds except they are very pretty and seem to be people friendly. My budgie, Buddy, was raised from his egg by a woman who owned lovebirds. They all got along well. Since he was a baby with the lovebirds, he imitated their sound. When I brought him home at about 4 months old, he learned to chirp like a budgie from Tweetie Pie. Buddy still lets out a lovebird chirp occasionally. Having budgies and lovebirds may not be ideal, but it can work. You may just have to watch them more carefully.

Lovebirds are known to not be accommodating towards other birds and with budgies being so much smaller, these two together are not a good fit.
