I find I need to have a book on the go even if I only have time for a couple of pages a day. It feels like something is missing if I'm not currently reading a book.

The world would tilt out of kilter if I didn’t have at least one book on the go. . OH reckons he doesn’t have time to read, but he will watch crap on TV at night. I watch very little TV, would rather read my book, so to me his reasoning is flawed.

Would you recommend it Hezz ? ariella I've not read any Samuel Richardson yet, although I do have a copy of Pamela. It's excellent that your husband can make bookcases to fit. I try not to have my books doubled up as I like to see them all but we do have some temporarily double, mostly as piles sitting at the front of the shelf. The Count of Monte Cristo is probably the longest book I've read at 929 pages. I haven’t read Pamela. For anyone who enjoys a long book and likes history, Child of the Phoenix is excellent by one of my favourite authors, Barbara Erskine. It’s set in medieval England, Wales and Scotland and a reasonable amount has been researched to be true although filling in gaps with a great imagination is something Barbara Erskine is good at. It’s over 900 pages but if you like history, it’s a good read, as is The Lady of Hay. I like time-slip books if done well and Erskine’s earlier books are very good at that. The Lady of Hay is in my top 10 favourite books. I love history novels but try other genres too although I’d happily read history all the time.

ariella I've not read Barbary Erskine but I will put her on my list. I like time-slip books too. I've not read any adult time-slip novels but I loved the children's ones I've read - Tom's Midnight Garden, When Marnie was there, Charlotte Sometimes and a Traveller in Time. I'm sure I've read more than that but I can't think of them now.

Is this a MAN thing Hezz, cause my OH watches crap on TV too 😂 Probably, JB. The other night our internet connection was playing up so I couldn’t watch the show I wanted to watch; I read my book. I only really watch a little TV on the weekends. OH couldn’t watch the show he wanted to watch either, so he watched … his words “some rubbish on free to air”.
