I noticed Munchy limping and favouring his left foot, and on inspection the 'ball of the foot' where his toes meet is swollen. He was fine earlier, though, so I'm currently suspecting an injury, possibly caused when they were having a family gathering on one playgym and Yuki got annoyed at Indie and Munchy being super cuddly.
Going to keep an eye on him, but any advice for joint swelling if it doesn't go down?

Possibly, ffiscool. We have the car if we need to grab anything. I'll do some research.

I seem to recall turmeric and cayenne pepper being recommended as anti-inflammatories here in past postings as ffiscool mentioned. Hopefully it is a minor injury and will correct itself soon.

I thought I remembered cayenne pepper, and housemate mentioned tumeric. I'll see if other housemate has anything stashed. Set up a cage with plenty of perches to make it easy to get around. Indie's in there too because they've been super cuddly these past few days.

Turmeric is a good natural anti-inflammatory agent, and cayenne pepper is a pain reliever. Both are high in antioxidants as well, I know of a number of vets who have used turmeric in treating tumours in animals, cats and dogs only, of course.
Perhaps keep in mind that Munchy might have the beginning of arthritis. I hope not!

Hezz Thank you! I would be surprised as he was walking fine first thing, but then I haven't looked overly closely at his feet for a while so perhaps this could have been building up. I have spiced his food and water. Looks like some sort of weird tea.

I *think* it looks a little less swollen but don't quote me on that. He doesn't seem to have as pronounced a limp, at least. He's rather skinny, though. Needs a good few days of not having to compete for food at the very least.

I hope he doesn't have arthritis too. Hector had this in his later years and lost the use of the toes on one foot He just used to lean on that side.

Hoping that you are right and Munchy is feeling better. . Have you noticed his weight decreasing when you weigh in? Anyway, Iām sure the elderly gent would appreciate having his tea and bikkies without the grandkids eating everything.
