It was 7 years ago yesterday that Criswell came to stay with us and I joined this lovely forum. I was totally new to budgies and this forum has been amazing - so helpful, friendly and informative. I've learnt so much and discovered that budgies are wonderful little people and I'm so glad I've had the privilege to share my life with some of them.
This was the first picture I posted of Criswell, the day after he came to stay. I was looking for help with rehoming him.
I found him a home through facebook, with some lovely people, but Criswell had other ideas so he came back to stay with us 2 days later and we had 3 lovely years with him.

I'm so glad we got Criswell back again loz. We would have kept him right away but we already had 14 rescue gerbils and hamsters at the time and knew nothing about budgies so we thought he would get more attention in another home. We had him for a few weeks before taking him to his new home so he could get his strength back as he was in poor condition when we got him and I didn't really want him to go but they'd got everything ready, even getting another budgies to pair with him. I was really sad when we left him at his new home and when I checked in with his new family the next evening it wasn't going so well. He'd been very aggresive to the dad when he put his hand in the cage and the daughter was convinced that meant Criswell was supposed to live with us. I asked if they wanted us to have him back and we all agreed that was best for Criswell. So they brought him back the next day. The dad had a deep scrath on the back of his hand that Criswell had done!

There's an old saying criswell, I don't know if it's Scottish or not:- "What's for you won't go by you" I'm a great believer in this, and you having Criswell in your life proves the point.

Oh, gosh, I remember this so clearly; I remember feeling rather sad that you weren’t keeping him and then … ta da! He was back like the proverbial bad penny. . Except not a bad penny at all but a very lovely budgie boy who has since led you on to your other three(?) boys. Budgie love is immovable. 💘

Hezz I was sad that I wasn't keeping him too and if he hadn't come back I would have really missed him even though I'd only known him for a couple of weeks. It took us all by surprise how quickly and strongly he bonded with us. And I am grateful to him for my 3 other budgie boys too. He really was a very lovely budgie xx
