Marianne Marlow has clear plastic soap dishes (I think) with a suction cup, meant to attach to a shower wall. She has them attached to a window and her budgies love sitting there looking out the window. Herman might like that if you can get him to perch on one.

That's a lovely video. Herman looks really contented.

You can get shower perches that work in the same way, mostly for the larger parrots that love a shower, but of course no reason why a budgie couldn’t do the same.

Herman at play! 1drv.ms/v/s!AnyoyWilEZ_Xh4UEl4eAODKzsXFuvw?e=NdKj1CThe little lad has made a little progress of late. He actually landed on his cage (once!) plus when I lowered him onto the bed one time, he actually got off my hand and explored the duvet for a bit. And in another first, he sat on my fingers and took seeds from the palm of my hand. At this rate he'll be fully trained by Christmas. 2025! He's so lovely though

Brave Herman sitting on his perch by the door: I just missed catching him on camera nibbling on the cauliflower leaves I hung in his cage a few days ago. Some of my birds prefer leaves that have dried out to succulent ones. I'm just glad he's nibbling on them! Herman at play! He's been a delight today but then, he's a delight every day. 1drv.ms/v/s!AnyoyWilEZ_Xh4VGLvIcqQvexVr-VA?e=9M95WzHis quarantine is due to end this week. Normally, this would be cause for celebration and there isn't really a reason for me to delay introducing Herman to the flock as his training is quite far advanced but ... selfishly, I don't want to give him up. He is currently almost as bonded to me as Mr Hibs is. The only thing he won't do is fly to me. He readily jumps up on the finger but he always waits for me to collect him, he never initiates contact. I could use this as an excuse to hold back his flock introduction but that feels a bit contrived and selfish. Tell me I am over-thinking this! However, I was very close to Squeak when she joined the flock and I've all but lost her. She doesn't remember we were best buddies once. I dread the same happening with Herman. I told you already, I am too soft-hearted to raise budgies.

Personally, I would delay the flock intro another week until Squeak finished getting his meds. I don't think there is any risk to Herman but why introduce another dynamic into that situation? Just my opinion.

I would also wait until Patch's meds were finished. Introducing Herman when Patch is unwell might stress Patch.
I wouldn't worry about Herman forgetting you were friends though, just keep up the contact and he should stay semi tame. He might even encourage another budgie or two to interact with you.
You still have Chocobo as a close Birdy friend too!

There's no question of introducing Herman before Patch's meds are done. And probably for a couple of days after that. Good advice all the same, much appreciated.
I know that Mr Hibs' tameness is the reason Eeyore feels safe landing on my head. That's a big step for a budgie as human-shy as Eeyore. It's occured to me that if both Hibs and Herman are tame, it will only work to further encourage the rest of the flock to be brave.

How come you have covered up Hermans mirror?

My reading on budgie behaviour last year suggested that a mirror will possibly lead to an aggressive bird. I weighed this advice but initially decided against it.
Mr Hibs was on his own for several months and had a mirror - so far he is the only budgie I have who could be called aggressive. It's not serious, he has never hurt anyone but it's a trait he has and it has led to friction in the flock at times. I accept the possibility that the mirror had nothing to do with this.
None of my other budgies has had a mirror - so far, no signs of aggression from any of them. It's not an issue I would ever press with another budgie owner, I'm not 100% certain of my ground but it's what I believe at this time.
