Hello, so I recently purchased a budgie from PetSmart (here name is Lola she's about 4 months old and a female) and have been spending all my time with her since then other than when I'm at work. I know it takes time to tame your budgie, but all she seems to want to do is look out the window, and. She has many toys, food, and everything else. In her previous cage she would want to leave it and roam around on the floor and that would be the end of it, but now with this bigger cage, she will sit at the entrance and then go back to her perch. I have tried moving the cage to a different place, made it easier to get down, but no matter what I try, she will just hop back up on the perch look at me and start screaming and flapping her wings super-fast, or she will turn her back on me, and look at me from the corner of her little eye.
The door is open most of the time, so she can leave when she wants. I am just worried that I am doing something wrong because she is upset regularly. I spend A LOT of time with her to the point where i can't get my own work done around the house lol. I talked to an avian vet, but they just suggested I try and give her some treats, and a new toy. but I am not even able to get to that point because she doesn't respond to anything other than so that doesn't really help me. She is fine otherwise, she will eat when I'm near her cage, drink, and such. I haven't grabbed her or anything, she goes back to the cage when Shes out, but it's like with this new larger cage, she doesn't understand how to get out of it. Shes done it before, but it was like a once or twice thing. I have tried to bribe her with food, but no cigar. Any tips? I just tried putting a blanket over her cage when she is just screaming, it worked, but i don't know if that is the best solution
