Excellent news Marianne Marlow. I hope Lyra and Penny have a whale of a time with somewhere safe to play. I think it’s a brilliant idea!

Poor Penny has a spiky baldy bit above her cere due to moulting. I had to approach these two very slowly as they are so wary of me that they tend to run off to the back of the cage. Well Penny runs, Lyra just jumps!

They both have such sweet gentle faces. I’m looking forward to seeing what they make of their new play centre when it arrives.

To me they look like they are plotting I wont be able to put them in their new play area until Eve is in bed as she is a monster at the moment. They both have such sweet gentle faces. I’m looking forward to seeing what they make of their new play centre when it arrives.

Plotting…as if! Probably a wise idea for Eve to be in bed in case she wants to play in the pool too. Children are so drawn to playing in things - a pop-up tent, a blanket over a chair, a ball pit, a cardboard box…a budgie play area.

Penny and Lyra had just over an hour in the pool (no water of course!) I'm not sure they liked it, but perhaps they will get used to it.
What is this place?
OMG another bird. I wonder if he'll come in?
OMG yet another bird
Oh Hi George
Oh Bye George
We hate you mummy, we wanna go home!

Looks like fun. I’d lie some perches on the floor so they can sit as though perching normally without their feet being flat on the bottom. A little “A” frame would be good, too, or a teepee of perches but low down so they could climb up (and down) easily and not hurt themselves if they did decide to try to jump off.

That's why I put the ladders on the floor, aren't they enough? Penny spent a lot of time standing on them. If not I'll have to try and find something else. Looks like fun. It must feel very different but nice to be ‘out’.
I’m surprised Max didn’t go in.
Could you have a longer ladder, that goes from the top rim to the bottom?

Lol, no, think more of climbing, perching without being in the bottom.

This looks great fun! I am sure they will get used to it given a bit of time. It's nice for the other birds to be able to and meet them beak to beak.

Yes, noticed them using the ladders, and is why I suggested some more. They need differing sizes to exercise their feet. I wish I could send you some interesting gum tree branches …

They look so cute in there! Probably just a little unsure at first because they're low down and can't see very far. What a great play area!
