Hello, I have 10 budgies. I have given them over the years different type of pellets (Zupreem, Roudybush, Harrison, TOP, Psittacus) and seed mix (Tidy Mix, Premium World, Johnson and Jeff) and Red Millet spray occasionally as well as vegetable mix and sprouts. But 2 of my birds have fatty liver disease So I am trying to get the best diet for them. I watched different videos and tried different things but now there is a shortage of grains and I can't find most of the things I was trying to give them. I read different articles as well but I get so confused. So what I am trying to do right now is feed a mix of Harrison (since it's the one of the pellets they seem to prefer) with seeds/grains. I give them Spelt and Kamut Grain, Buckwheat, Hemp Seeds, Oat Groats, Brown Linseed, While Hulled Sesame seeds, Pot Barley and Caraway and Dill seeds. I was thinking of adding Hulled Millet, Canary seeds and Rice to substitue Kamut which is hard to find now and Spelt grain too. Is that a good choice? Any recommendation? Thank you in advance

What country do you live in - that will help with the recommendations.

Oil seeds should be no more than 5% of the seed make-up, millets and canary seed generally make up the bulk of a budgie seed mix, up to 50%. You have three oil seeds in that mix - hemp, sesame and linseed, so I would look at reducing these to make up no more than that 5%. Oats are a favourite of budgies and they will eat these before anything else and while not the fattiest seed, certainly aren’t the lowest, either. It is the amount they consume that becomes the problem, so limit the amount of oats in the mix as well.
More vegetables, less of the fruits although apple and berries are lower in sugar than many others, and start sprouting for them every day. Sprouts are one of the lowest fat food groups you can feed a budgie.
Quinoa might be a better option than rice.

I sprout the Linseed and the Hemp seed too when I do the sprouting mix. Not the Sesame though. Should I reduce that in the sprouting as well? How do I identify the oil seeds? And are the canary and millet ones both oil seeds? Reducing oats thank you. Can quinoa be given raw, or only sprouted/cooked? I already give them chop, not fruits just veggies. Mostly broccoli, green beans, carrot, kale, rosemary and occasionally pepper.

Sprouted seeds are better than the seed for all. There are a few different types of millet so a variety is good. They and canary seed should make up the bulk of the seed mix.
Linseed, hemp and sesame are the oil seeds. Quinoa, I understand, should be cooked.
