I have 5 of these small carry cages, 2 blue 1 white 1 yellow and 1 red, and I place a small cover over to keep them safe and stress free. Even the vet we go to thinks they are great, just one tip though, I use a bag tie for the lid, just in case it pops open.

Having made many vet trips of late, I found that covering the cage completely with a tea towel helped reduce the stress a lot. They really don't like being caught up and put into their little transport cage.

Get everything ready well before time. Put some white paper on the bottom of the transport cage to collect fresh poop for the vet to look at. You need to come from behind and catch him in a grip that is firm enough to stop him squirming and getting away, but not so tight that you hurt him. The bird's back is in your palm. Have the transport cage close and open, so it's one quick operation to catch him and put him straight in the transport cage. If you can't catch him, you might have to throw a tea towel on him first. For me, I find it's easier to catch my bird when he's out of the cage and not facing me, so I just come up from behind and pick him up in one quick and confident movement. In the cage, he's always expectantly facing me, and just jumps all over the shop if I try to pick him up. That's just my personal experience with my bird though.

Maybe you could put some millet in the cage and try and lift him in with a stick?

i did think i would take him out of his cage and pop him on his tree and do step us as normal and then whilst on my finger try and put him in the transporter with millet...I really dont want to pick him up as i have never done that before plus i would hate it for him then not to trust me and my hand as we have come SO far....

See if that works first. He might just fly off when you get him near the small cage door though. But you might be okay.
