I'm pretty sure my budgie Idris is the smartest budgie I've owned since I was a kid. I've only had him 3 weeks and he is well settled in. I started recall training ing with him 2 days ago and he already flies to me when I call his name. I'm not sure how long it normally takes for them to learn recall but I'd say2 days is good.
Also another question what tricks could I teach him.

As much as I try, mine refuse to sit any of the IQ tests I have devised for them. So I have not been able to test how smart they are as of yet.
Watch this space, I will keep trying.

No formal tests here but I feel confident in saying - all my budgies were hired solely for their looks. 🤣

Depends on the scoring criteria! But Pippin wins no prizes! He doesn't even win "Quickest to flee" now, because that's Aster at the moment. Munchy was usually very quick at learning new words. Indie and Yuki are pretty good at picking up little tricks. Yuki's just learned 'shake' after a few goes. Pippin's too panicky to really learn anything, teaching him is hard because he's so skittish, but he's comfortable if there's a routine. Aster will come for millet quickly but is a little uncertain about everything at the moment. And Gwen's too clever for her own good at times.

My little Tweetie Pie is the proverbial "dumb blonde". When I first put a millet treat on the side of the cage outside, Buddy sailed out the door, around the side and was on it in a heartbeat. Tweetie Pie on the other hand stayed inside, went to the side of the cage and kept trying to poke through the bars to get to it. He had to see Buddy do it three times before he got that he had to go out the cage and around to the side. I still love my little simpleton, its good that he's pretty.

Mine study quantum physics in their spare time.
