I've just submitted another appliation. That's 3 done now. I got the second one finished at 2am which was necessary as I would have still kept putting it off today. One more to do now, or maybe two

Success! I submitted an appliation at 8.30am Wednesday and got appointed as a specialist graduate marker at 2pm Thursday It's not quite a good as being an examiner and pays less well but it's easier and I didn't need a teaching qualification to apply. I'm hoping they'll let me apply to be a proper examiner in the future. I might get offered some work quite soon as the advert was for the summer 2024 exams, or I might not get any until next summer but it's nice to be appointed anyway. I don't expect to hear from the others so quickly, and I've got 2 more appications to do.

Well done Criswell :-)
Hopefully you'll be able to be a "proper examiner" in the future, but you have done well getting this far so quickly!

Thank you Marianne Marlow. My other applications are for proper examiners so hopefully one of them will be successful too. I shall get the last 2 applications done today.

That is a long wait! As Criswell said, I hope you've been feeling at least a little better recently.

I'm pretty fortunate to get these tests done as soon as I did really. People have waited a lot longer for an ENT appointment.
Also I arrived 40 minutes early for the appointment and he saw me right away! (the ENT and the CT scan)

That's good, Marianne.
I had similar recently for my CAT scan. Arrived fifteen minutes early, seen & scanned straight away. Unnerving!

I am in the USA, and I know most of you are in the UK. The other day, I was thinking about some of the funny misconceptions that many people here believe about the UK:
- You drink tea all the time; coffee is almost unheard of (isn't coffee quite popular there now?) - When it's "tea time" you drop whatever you're doing and rush to prepare tea and refreshments. - You all live in London, or you can leave your quaint isolated country cottage and be in London within ten minutes.* - You drink warm beer. (I heard that it's not exactly warm, just not ice cold, as many of us Americans prefer.) - You all have the same stereotypical Cockney accent. * This happens with Las Vegas, Nevada, in the USA. I've never been to Nevada, but if someone mentions being from there, they will instantly be asked if they live in Las Vegas.

Crumbs, i think we've come on a bit since the 2nd war Coffee is HUGE here, possibly more popular than tea, it's nothing to see dog walkers in my local park carrying a Costa Coffee cup and my daughters car is full of empty ones I don't live far from London but id rather stay where i am, and it's not in a quaint country cottage, nothing wrong with London but too much activity for me. Warm beer was probably before we all had fridges And we've all got different accents depending on where we live. BUT i prefer Tea to coffee

I occasionally have tea, but most of the time it's coffee - about 5-6 a day. No such thing as tea time here.. although some people call either dinner or lunch tea, I think. I do live in London. Used to go on holiday to lovely cottages in villages Don't drink beer, but I did when I was in my 20/30's and it was ice cold. I am technically a cockney, but do not have a cockney accent. I forgot this one: "They drive on the wrong side of the road in England!"
If you're there, and you're supposed to be driving on that side...then it's not exactly "wrong", is it?

I prefer tea to coffee, but I find that unless I go to a proper tea shop then I generally dislike tea from cafes, pubs, etc. So if I'm buying something out it's usually coffee, because that's also something I don't make in the same way at home.
Trying to remember how long the train took to get to London from Cardiff. A good couple of hours. With Yuki chattering the whole way. There were some American ladies sat behind us on that trip.
