My husband and I just want to be home with our pets on most nights. We wouldn't mind the occasional gathering of maybe eight or fewer people, but we are honestly not close with that many friends and relatives. We tend to be moderate on many political and social issues. We mostly meet people who are militant about one way or the other. Also, we each have family members/relatives who...are not exactly fun and trustworthy...and we don't want them at our home if possible.

I must admit if I didn't have to, I'd rarely mix with people. But when you have a 5 year old and have to take them to parties, you don't have much choice.
I have to push myself to be sociable as it does not come naturally to me.

I was just thinking about Eve the other day, is she old enough to interact with the budgies, what does she think of them?

She is 5 now and starting year 1 in a few weeks. I am not really sure what she thinks of them. She does try and talk to them, but as she can be so loud they fly off when they see her. Max used to come over to her. But since he passed away, no one else is brave enough. I was just thinking about Eve the other day, is she old enough to interact with the budgies, what does she think of them?

I've created a monster! Buddy likes breads. I've given him nibbles of blueberry muffin, strawberry muffin, plane waffle, and white bread. No butter or jam on anything he gets. Buddy really likes the white bread. He gets his bits while I'm eating. Now, he comes over to me whenever I eat. The other day, I was eating some caramel popcorn and he sat on the hand I was using to eat - riding from the bowl to my mouth. There weren't any bits with no caramel do he didn't get a bite. He bit my hand!

After reading these comments, maybe I should try eating fruit in the bird room. Since our birds have rejected fruits that I set out on plates.

What an annoyance for you lozI actually find parties a bit hard. The noise and the chaos. Also mingling with people does not come easy to me. OH and I went to a gathering last weekend. I was more comfortable playing with the grandchild rather than trying to make conversation with people I didn’t know. I’ve never been good at parties. One little girl was overcome with shyness with everyone watching her; once she warmed up to me I told her all those strangers made me feel the same. We had some good games after that.

Glad to hear I am not the only one that finds it hard to be sociable with people. Well done on helping a child to cope too. I find that kids have less expectations of people and are easier to talk to too!
Eve will just go up to a random person and introduce herself by telling them to look at her shoes and that her mummy chose them for her.

I guess so. But it's been a long time since mummy bought me clothes Eve will just go up to a random person and introduce herself by telling them to look at her shoes and that her mummy chose them for her. You could try this...but as an adult, you might see some raised eyebrows!

Buddy is learning to talk! he makes the 'kissy' noise - sounds just like me! He says 'hello, baby', 'whatcha doin',givmea little kiss' and s variety of indistinguishable sounds. He's so cute!
He thinks the kissy sound is our flock call.

Buddy is so sweet. Did he only start talking after Tweetiepie passed away?
