One of the companies I contacted about finding stainless steel skewers for fruit/veg (to avoid the danger inherent in non-stainless ones which are bound to end up rusty) recently got back to me to say they now have some in stock. Although I'd actually managed to find a stainless steel one somewhere else, and even greedy Ian & Marshall only need one, I thought it would be worth putting a plug for www.junglegold.com here, being as they had the courtesy/efficiency to reply to me when they DID get some in stock. Though having said that, they must have had a run on them because the skewers are currently 'out of stock'! They do seem to have lots of other interesting products though ...

Hi Rose
We have missed you!!
Jungle Gold are good I agree. I ordered some millet and seed from them and it came fast, in tip top condition.
Prices aren't bad either!

Hope Blueboy got on OK on Friday, Marianne??? It's not good news I'm afraid Rose. He does have an iodine deficiency and of course that is curable. But he also has a tumour in his stomach which is obviously not. I am not giving up hope though and doing all that I can (with help of family and a very good friend) to prolong and maintain his quality of life for as long as I can.

Thanks for the link Rose It doesn't say they are out of stock though which is good. I have the chromium plated spears which I can assure you are safe unless they have rust on them. They are the best thing I ever bought for my budgies, they love to eat their veggies from them.

I obviously have such plebbish budgies!! They prefer a good old bamboo skewer held on by a plastic peg!

They are indeed safe till they have rust on them, Rachael - just didn't want to risk my poor eyesight missing the odd fleck!

I am the master of CHEAP, Ruth. I just cut off the very sharp tip with a pair of scissors. They can be used a few times, thrown away when you feel like it, and if they want a munch on the stick, that's okay too.
