I hope everyone is doing well Finally I recently started growing millet grass for my buds, in organic soil, I was shocked of how fast it was growing, then I realized that I don't know what to do with it exactly especially after seeing how rapidly it’s growing, it’s actually amazing to watch day after day🙂 I tried cutting a little bit and added it to their food, but I’m not sure if it will grow again, should I have plucked it from the root and planted new seeds? I haven’t tried to put the whole thing near them so they can eat directly from the plant because my buds are extremely skittish and I dont think think they’ll go near it, but I can try if that’s the best option for them, will it grow higher? Will it produce millet seeds? I have so many questions and I would appreciate any kind of input what so ever, i really want to use this beautiful plant and reap its fullest benefit for our buds.

My preference would be to allow the budgies to harvest the millet themselves.
My crew was initially suspicious of the Herb Jungle when I put it out for them. All it takes though is for one brave (or bored) soul to give the new feature a try. It may take days but when the first bud tries it, likes it and isn't eaten by it, the others will follow.
Just my experience of course!

My two just seem to like it when the shoots are small, I don't know if they're sweeter when they're small, but once they get to a length like the picture on the left they're uninterested.
I cut a small bunch, tie the ends with a cable tie, and clip to the cage.

You do need to be careful letting the birds forage around in the potting mix as it does often harbour fungal spores, being organic does not exclude it from this. If you can get some of it a bit more light, a bit of fertiliser and set aside on its own, you should get little millet sprays produced eventually. If you cut the leaves off and pin up as suggested by jellybean, your plants should simply regrow their leaves as the basis of the plant is still intact.

Ohhh thanks a very good point Hezz thank you i will definitely not let him eat directly from it so there will be no risk at all I’ll just cut some and hang it for them this way it’s safe even if there was fungal spores in the soil right? or should I just get rid of it?

No, don’t get rid of it! It is only a potential problem if the birds dig and and start eating the soil. I’ve grown ordinary spray millet from the seeds, but must confess that my birds are either terribly fussy or little princesses as they didn’t seem to like the furry “coat” that the new sprigs wore. There is a local grass that looks much the same with a furry protective layer; they won’t eat that either.

I’d describe them as little brats with great and huge opinions of their own self-importance!
