I have had to say goodbye to my little hen with French Moult today. Earlier on she had some sort of stroke, followed by several mini ones. Lyra had a lovely character and never once bit me, unlike all other hens I have had. I held her to me and offered water, apple and millet but she either could not take them or did not want to. I sat with her for two hours until I could not feel her little heart beat any longer. It’s been an extremely upsetting day. Although I am devastated, I am glad that I was with her when she passed. I hope you can fly in heaven little Lyra. Thank you for staying with us this past year and giving Penny company. Photos attached of Lyra and Penny. (Lyra is the light yellow budgie with a slightly darker yellow head).

I'm so sorry. It doesn't seem that long since she arrived, but you gave her a good life. What a beautiful girl. It helps if you are there at the end so I'm glad you could give her some comfort. Fly high & fly free Lyra.

I'm sorry Marianne that you had to say farewell to Lyra. You were an excellent mum to her. I choose to believe that Lyra now has her plumage back and that she's happy, flying easily over millet fields. You were a blessing to each other.

It makes me happy to think she had as normal a life with you as she could with love and companionship from her budgie friends. Spread your wings and fly high in budgie heaven, Lyra!

I am so sorry to hear this, poor Lyra.
I know she had a happy time with you looking after her, and of course with her friend Penny.

I’m so sorry Marianne Marlow, but what a caring, loving life Lyra experienced with you. I love the photos of her and Penny having a safe space to play in the doggy pool. Lyra would undoubtedly be so thankful you took her in and gave her a chance to find a level of enjoyment in her days, flirty visits from the boys and having a non-flying friend. I hope that Penny is okay and not pining. Although it must have been so hard watching Lyra suffer her strokes, I am sure she felt loved as you held her and you can know you did good by her. Fly high sweet Lyra. I’m sure you have the ability to fly and soar over the fields of millet. It has been a pleasure reading all about you. x

I’m so sorry to read this. Lyra totally had a great life with you, her pals and as best a normal life she could have. There’s no question that having you hold her would have given her comfort.
RIP beautiful Lyra, fly high

I am so sorry, Marianne. Lyra was a beautiful soul and I’m sure she brought great comfort to Penny in the time they had together. I do love the photo of the two nibbling on the paper - typical hens.
Rest In Peace, sweet girl. I think we are all missing you already. xx

She's fine actually. Singing away and Chipper came over and fed her through the bars. Sometimes I wonder if their cage mate knows they are ill before we do and is relieved when they pass.
