Hey everyone, new to the forum and was wondering if my budgie Heidi has mites, or you believe it's something else? I live in a small village and they only have a bird specialist in each Friday, so I will be still taking her in. And just to show our other budgies, Besti, Daki and Klum

As Marianne Marlow says, you will need to treat all your birds for mites. You'll also need to disinfect their living accommodation at the same time, using a suitable disinfectant that is affective for mites. Something like this KG Bird Spray 500ml Will assist in Removal of Mites & Lice from Hens, Pigeons, Parrots & all indoor Birds amzn.eu/d/exGTV2N

Yes loz, of course! You definitely need to thoroughly clean the cage/s too!

You can also vaseline her feet as the legs can get scaly too.

All birds will need to be treated once a week for three weeks, and the cage and accessories deep cleaned at the same time. Forget about the spray, it is not going to kill off any mites that may be lurking in the cage, and the Ivermectin 0.1% will effectively kill off the mites present and as they hatch, which is why you need to treat the birds three weeks running. If you check the ingredients of the spray there are no active against mites, only “natural enzyme” blurb. Your little hen has had mites for quite some time to be presenting as she is and needs something to directly target the mites. The Vaseline may help reduce any itchiness if the mites have moved on to her legs.
Make sure that the Ivermectin that you have ordered is 0.1% There are many different concentrations as it can be used as an internal and external treatment for all sizes of farm animals - you don’t want to be giving your budgie the same concentration as given to a horse or bull.
