We have lost Charlie as you know. The vet asked would we get another budgie and if yes we should disinfect his cage . So I am asking…with what? Obviously all the perches etc would be thrown out..

You know best when its time to clean. My avian vet recommended cleaning with soap and water, rinse thoroughly, spray with F10 vet disinfectant and put the cage in the sun to dry.

F10 would be the best thing to use. It is what the vets use between consults and they need to be sure that a germ from one patient is not transferred to the next appointment. The bottle should give you differing strengths to use for different pathogens but since you don’t know what Charlie’s problem was, I would go for the strongest that they recommend which is what they recommend for parvovirus and PBFD.

Or a steam cleaner if you have one ladybird.

We did think we would buy a new cage if we got another budgie….we have the Hagen vision M1. We like the cage but would like something slightly bigger…..It could not be much bigger because my hubby has to put it in the car if we go away…also no heavier really.. does anyone have any suggestions please?

If you did buy a bigger cage ladybird, you could always keep the Hagen (if you have storage space) for trips away etc.

I really like the Geo 60 I have but it's not to everyone's taste (it's the geodesic dome you might have seen in my photos of newcomers).

I would check the concentration of the spray to be sure it meets requirements. Personally I would go for the concentrate so that I could dilute to the required dosage as required.

This is the concentrate ladybird, you could buy a spray bottle and make it up yourself to the required strength.

I buy mine from FAB FINCHES, or ebay via FAB FINCHES, they're a great company and I've always received 1st class service.
