Good questions!
I would assume that if your bird's is sufficiently varied, additional vitamins won't be necessary for a healthy bird.
In my case, the flock receives regular (but not daily) Avipro to ensure a supply of Vit A as the flock won't touch veggies known for being a good source of it. They also get regular Zolcal F for Vit D, just to be sure. The calcium in Zolcal is helpful as you never know when Chocobo is going to initiate an egg-laying session. The flock also receives regular Guardian Angel, mainly because of the question-mark over Squeak's health.
I'm lucky in that I have a seemingly healthy and obviously very active flock. I wouldn't mind knowing what extra steps are necessary for FLD aside from milk thistle treatments, for future reference.

A good variety of different coloured veg is much better than dosing with a manufactured supplement. Too much of these concentrated additives can put more of a burden on other organs, in particular the kidneys, doing more harm than good.
