... can anyone advise on what is going on here? For background, these are six budgies (in far too small a cage) being offered for re-homing. They are described as about 4 months old, save for one who is 7 months. They are also described as "unable to fly due to issues with their flight feathers". Wing clipping? French moult? It's hard for me to tell. I know myself well enough by now to know that I would have them here with me except they are just too far away from my location. My heart is torn though. So cute! And so in need of a good home.

I cannot tell if that is FM or wing clipping. Can you ask the person advertising?

Poor babies in a small vision cage…… I would say the age is about right and looks to me like wings clipped……I hope someone rehomes them soon.

I cannot tell if that is FM or wing clipping. Can you ask the person advertising? I could ask but I know that conversation is a road that might lead to budgie madness. Plus I don't want to get their hopes up that I am a potential adopter. 68 miles each way! I agree with ladybird, I hope they get quickly rehomed.

I've made some enquiries. The birbs are located in Reading.
If anyone can help, let me know. I can supply a link to the advert if needed.

Poor little babies! They look to me like they could be siblings. My first impression is FM because they don't have the long tail feathers and the wings seem to be missing the longer flights. I can't see any wing feathers that look like they've been cut. I hope they find a good home.

I can think of no good reason to clip wings but I can think of even less reason to clip tails, unless it was through ignorance.

Ohhh bless them, that’s FM, looks to possibly be a breeder that’s had a clutch of them 🙁

Very plausible, skysmum. The five 4-month olds are almost certainly siblings. And it has to be FM, doesn't it.

Yes, it could also be pbfd which can take on a worse form and be transferred to other birds. It’s a hard thing to understand with much debate. This is bad breeding, poor little mites 🙁

The owner (or breeder) has confirmed FM. She has informed me that she is in contact with someone who wants to adopt. Or perhaps she didn't want my questions and is trying to put me off? I prefer to believe the former.

Late to the debate, but agree this is FM, a whole clutch of them by the looks of things. At four months they should all have their primary flight feathers and longest tail feathers.

Yes, lets hope they find a lovely home. There are people out there that take in FM budgies and give them good lives.
