I don't now what's happened but Herman is showing an issue with his left wing today. He keeps raising it and sometimes he "carries" it differently from his right wing. He is able to fly but not as well as usual and his wing-lifting is more frequent after a flight. He s eating normally and interacting normally with the other budgies.
I hope and trust that he's simply "had a knock" and the wing will soon be OK again but I would like to ask if there is anything I should be doing in terms of care or preventative measures.
Thanks in advance.

Possibly make him rest it for a day or two? So don't not allow out of cage time for a bit? Appreciate that may not go down well.
This comes purely from the point of view of what I'd do with an ankle injury after running and no direct bird experience of the same!

Thanks blueelephantIt's occurred to me to cage the boy but I just know he will become very agitated in the cage, especially when the others visit him. I may cause a problem to get worse. Observing Herman, he seems to be managing the issue and doing limited flight time on his own. I genuinely don't know whether caging him will make things better or worse.

Oh no, poor Herman! Hopefully it's just a bit of a sore muscle that feels a bit funny and will pass in a day or so.

I would agree with blueelephant and keep him caged for a day or two while observing how he behaves, especially because you said he seems to have more trouble with the wing after flying. Hopefully it was just a little sprain. Maybe something startled him last night and he got it caught on something. Hoping it heals quickly.

I've cheated a bit and given all the downstairs parrots an early night (by not turning on the lights when it got dark).
I'll observe Herman closely tomorrow morning before deciding how to proceed.

Poor boy 🙁, I would also recommend him to be confined to barracks for a couple of days, he could aggravate it trying to fly.

You could always cage everyone? For a day or so? Or Herman and a friend or two?

Just catching up. How is Herman today? Other than him stretching his wings a bit in the video it was hard to see what's wrong.

Herman looks OK today but I haven't seen too much of him as yet. He seemed to stretch both wings together just now but I haven't yet got a sense of how he's carrying his left wing. Yesterday the two wings weren't carried symmetrically. He was definitely carrying an injury yesterday, his flying was laboured and the wing was clearly bothering him. I think a day of rest at the very least will do him good. Mr Hibs was giving me quite the look though. They are not going to be happy budgies and Chocobo is lurking around the big cage, looking somewhat discombobulated.

I managed to observed Herman for a bit now. He's carrying the wing better, more symmetrically but I just saw him tense it in an odd fluttery fashion, just as he was doing yesterday. He appears to be vibrating the wing very fast, like a trembling. Poor lad is not having a great time, he woke up with a terrible case of the moults - his head looks like he got into a series of fights in the night! He is almost not handsome now!

Poor little guy! It sounds to me that he needs very close observing by you. Since he's in a molt I'd be inclined to looking at the feathers on his left wing, trying to make sure nothing is amiss either with new feathers coming in or old ones falling out.

I have had a close look at his left wing throughout the day just in case it wasn't an injury but some other condition - I cannot see anything untoward. That was a good shout, TPM. Good bit of lateral thinking.
Looking at him as of right now, you wouldn't know anything was wrong but he'll have the rest of today in the cage regardless.
Edit: He is still stretching his wings unevenly, the left wing goes higher and more straight-up. Just spotted that.
