I have two budgies (both male) and today I brought them out of their cage and into a tall, open box with the help of millet. I coaxed them to come out of their cage and then I put them in a box which was uncomfortable for them, so they stressed themselves out, somehow climbed out of the box and now they're too scared to even touch millet. I just wanted to leave them somewhere so that I may clean their cage so that they remain healthy. If anyone has any advice on how to get them to come and sit on my perch again or as to where I should put them instead, that would be greatly appreciated as they are just standing still on the floor of my room, chirping every once in a while.

They need a safe (to them) place to perch - a play gym or perching tree set up on a table for example. It’s also a good idea to have a spare, smaller cage for vet visits or travel and setting this up for them regularly means they become familiar with it and don’t freak out when it is needed to be used. One the floor is a dangerous place for any bird to be, unsupervised.
You also may have to go back to square one with offering them millet through the bars of the cage if they are frightened of you now.
