Yesterday I saw Barney feed Dinku.
This morning Daisy fed Dinku (not uncommon, they preen eachother too)
Then I just saw Dinku feed Daisy.
I wonder how they decide who feeds and preens who?

Interesting.
Based upon my observations, preening (giving & receiving) is a privilege reserved for favoured pair-halves - boy-girl, girl-girl or boy-boy. Feeding seems to be a sort of "I like you and want you to like me" dynamic for the boys. It is also reserved for "special buddies" (often reciprocal) and for "prospective mates" (rarely reciprocal!). For the girls, being fed is right and can be demanded of any male. Feeding by the girls is only ever for a favoured other.
Fascinating to watch.

Well then that means Daisy wuvs Dinku as she feeds him. It's quite unusual for girls to feed boys here, I do not think I have seen it before.

Daisy is very forthright though. Like a small Chocobo!

No. I don't have nest boxes as I don't ever intend for my birds to breed. Well then that means Daisy wuvs Dinku as she feeds him. It's quite unusual for girls to feed boys here, I do not think I have seen it before. I believe that is the case, Marianne. You have a nest box I trust?

I know you had your reasons IraAnyway I am not against breeding budgies if done correctly. It's just not for me. Seems to me that I recall Ira saying that. No, I never said that. It was a nice experience. If anything I'd rather just get her out of breeding condition now though. At least she doesn't actually seem the type to lay without a box, so that's something. Just need to get her royal laziness moving! Lard butt

Hens do seem a bit lazier than the boys!
Although Daisy feeds and preens Dinku, she also sits about an awful lot.
