Yesterday afternoon Buddy gave me a fright. I opened his cage to let him out and when he hopped onto the door and I noticed that his wing was drooping right down . He jumped on my hand and then his other wing dropped too. I examined both wings, no injuries……he then jumped onto my t shirt and I couldn’t get him off because his claws had wrapped around the material. Eventually we got him off and both his feet were curled up tight. I put him on my knee and he just stayed there. I then held him for a while and decided to put him back into his cage…….He open his claws and tucked his wings away and jumped down and had a drink……..I am belwildered? Could he have had a small TIA. One think I noticed later….it looks like he has been picking round the edge of my iPad and I am wondering if he has eaten some……….He seems fine today, eating and drinking and flying round normally……. Naturally I am worried, especially after all the problems I had with Charlie last year……..I can’t get him to the vets it’s an hour and half journey and I am not driving yet after eye surgery. Please let it be a one off……any ideas anyone ?

That sounds quite scary. Could something have frightened him?

I cannot give you specific advice, Ladybird but hopefully someone can.
All I can tell you is, I've seen worrisome behaviours from many in my Flock but it's proved to be a one-off. No explanation and no repeats, or no repeated repeats, if you get my meaning.
Trust that it's nothing to worry about for now, unless some wise forumer can tell you otherwise.

Thank you both. Nothing frightened him no. The last few days he was super active but yesterday I thought he could die in my hands, he doesn’t usually like being held. I can only think they he has chewed come of my iPad cover but could that course those strange symptoms ? I do suffer with bad nerves, this hasn’t done me any good, I am a born worrier 😖

I hope whatever it was, was a one off. It’s very scary when they are not right suddenly.
Everything crossed it was just a one off

It sounds to me like it was just one of 'those things'. Keep an eye on him to see if he repeats the behavior or if something new develops. On Friday, I was listening to a presentation by a parrot pet bird specialist on behavior. One thing she talked about was the single bird and pet owner relationship. She said even in the situation where two or more people live in the house, the bird will bond with one person and develop behaviors to get and hold that person's attention. Maybe Buddy was trying something new to get you to be with him more? It sounds like you did the right thing by putting him back in the cage because that let him know you didn't like what he was doing. It may be time to start training him to do tricks to develop playtime together. There are many YouTube videos on how to do that.

He has definitely got a strong bond with me but I honestly don’t think this was anything to do with that. One thing I have just remered is…..last Sunday we were breaking a cabinet up in the next room, the French doors were closed but a bit later that night he clung to me and went a bit floppy, I really do thing that was something to do with the shock of the noise. But yesterday nothing had happened, I was just letting him out of his cage. He is very lively today.

Poor little sausage. I do wonder if he was just after some reassurance from you.
I hope it is that.

Fingers crossed it was just a weird one-off incident, Ladybird.

I hope so too, but a tia just came to mind because of the drooped wings and clenched feet came to mind because I couldn’t think of anything else.Lasted about 10 mins. But he is absolutely fine today. I need to stop worrying, but difficult after Charlie last year .

I understand the fear, Ladybird, I share your tendency to relate current behaviour to a previous traumatic experience. Totally.
Eeyore worried me abut a week or so ago. He displayed the drooping wings you described and I'll be honest, I watched him like a hawk that day. Nothing further developed from it.
It's possible that the wings and feet are not the result of the same issue and that they are both unrelated, and non-serious. That would be my working theory unless further factors come to light.

Happy for you that he's acting like himself now.

ladybird, whether it was a seizure or a stroke, a vet has told me that often a drop of honey straight into their beak immediately after can help with their recovery. Seizures use up a great deal of energy and so does the recovery, and the drop of honey can help stabilise their blood sugar. A hypoglycaemic crash may well have been the cause in which case the drop of honey is doubly helpful. Also once they are able/willing to, a small piece of fruit such as slice of apple or a grape can help speed the recovery time as well. I have read in many places that the faster the recovery time the better the overall result.
