Hi everyone, I have couple of questions. Budgie from above pics is having watery stool for almost a month. The first time I noticed he was changing fethers so I was not alarmed. Because he would had one normal looking poo and in a few minutes he would poo just little bit of water. It didnt stop after changing fethers. I tried to give him vitamins in food but that helped with his fether and not with stool. I stoped giving him fruit and vegys so I was thinking it would stop. He is happy chirping and eating like nothing is wrong. I noticed that he puffs up and shake from time to time but nothing out of ordinary. I will post pictures below and Im waiting for your advice.. should he go to the vet or I contacted breeder I buyed him from and he said that I should give him little bit ofactive characoal and2 drops of probiotic for kids in 200ml of water. Is it safe to try this or go to the vet. In my town there is no really good avian vet.

Hi kile94
I'm sure you will get some good advice shortly but in the meantime, I wouldn't stop giving Gando veggies - depending on what it is you are giving him. Can you list the specific fruit & veg he receives? It would be helpful to know what else he eats - mainly seeds or pellets, etc?
If you have access to a good vet, that will always be your best option but if not, the breeder may be your best bet for local info.
If you can get budgie-specific pro-biotic additives (we have something called Guardian Angel here in the UK), that would be preferable to human-type supplements.
Hopefully more informed advice is coming soon.

Im regulary checking what he can eat. Im giving him whatever is on table for us so cucumber, grapes, apple, carrot etc. He is mainly on seed based diet but he gets his vegies and fruits almost everyday. Now im hesistant to give it to him cause of his watery poop. Breeder said that if he doesnt appear sick he isnt but idk.. Thanks for anwers you guys are the best. All pet shops are now closed I will be looki g to buy probiotics for budgies as soon as I can. Also I have appointment to the vet tommorow so we will see what vet will tell me. I will keep you informed. Oh and sorry to Admin for not opening new thread this doesnt have anything to do with mutation

Activated charcoal is good for pulling potential toxins out of the body and can be very useful for the sick. If the breeder can help you with dosage, I would ask. It is good that you have arranged a vet visit so wait until you have been and hear what the vet suggests. If they don’t seem to have much clue then I would look into the activated charcoal.
I don’t agree with the “if he doesn’t appear sick, then he isn’t” scenario. Birds are so good at hiding illnesses until they really are very ill and oftentimes too late to help. You are doing the right thing by acting sooner rather than later.

Vet prescribed Padovan Mutavigor, 15 drops in 50ml of water, every day for week. He said that it could be kidneys but he is not sure as everything else seems ok. He said that poop looks normal but the urea part of it is too much. He asked does he drink water anymore then usual. I was honest im replying that even in same room with me I rarely see him drink it. I guess most of time he drinks when im not looking. Beside that he told me to get iodine cubes but best I could find is seeds that contain iodine. And thats it... Nobody in Bosnia can take blood sample from bird, they dont have equipment to test it or something like that.

It sounds as though the vet did the best he could. Getting blood tests done can be a trial not worth going through if the vet doesn’t have something specific in mind to look for.
Some things to consider feeding him for a higher intake of iodine: spinach, Swiss chard, sesame seeds, walnuts and cashews. An iodine block should also be available but he may not touch it if he is getting enough through his food.

kile94 I have created a new post for your health concern. Just to say that my budgie Billy has similar droppings and the vet said he has liver and kidney issues. She said to give avipro avian in his water a few times a week and also milk thistle. What is his seed mix like?

Also, try not giving fruit/veggies for a couple of days and then see what his droppings are like.

I hope he improves soon on his meds, just a suggestion, i wouldn't feed him cucumber at all, it just full of water and has no nutritional value at all, it will just go through him.

Thanks for reply guys, after a week on Mutavigor (name of vitamins prescribed by vet) situation was better on the seventh day he had a normal stol but imediatly after stoping with suplement things got same. After another call with vet he said to give himApple vinegar with water ratio 30 ml on 1 liter of water. It was susposed to be 7 days with that insted of water but on second day I noticed that he isnt getting beter. In fact he only got worse he was now having a full water stool. Just clear water. I noticed that he is drinking huge amounts of water and his cage would be flooded in morning after changing paper sheets in cage night before. He seems normal chirping playin and eating but the watery poo isnt stoping. Its more then a month now that this is going and Im out of options. Im thinking to buy him some antibiotica but not sure which one should I buy. Or some other supplement. He was also on iodine but mothing changed. Thank for answers guys I really hope I will not lose my budg

Polydipsia and polyuria are classic signs of kidney disease, so the vet may have been on the right track with that.

Agree about the kidney disease. My Billy has very watery droppings too, he was diagnosed 2 years ago. My vet said to use Avipro avian in the water a few times a week, I guess the electrolytes and vitamins help him, Billy is still full of life.

Thanks, I was worried but he seems normal just as before this issue. Now 1 from 3 dropings looks normal. We also tried with antibiotics but it didnt help so after 7 days of not giving him anything I will try finding a better vitamins for his issue because first time when I checked with vet he gave me MUTA-VIT. As soon as I got it I realized it is vitamin to help with sheding. This time I will try to find something better but in Bosnia it is hard to find the things you need for parrots.
