I’m looking for advice on what to do when I will be out for over 12 hours one day. it will be dark when I leave and the same when I get home and it will be the longest I have left the boys on their own. Obviously the radio will be on for them and I think I will leave the light on all day so that when I get home I don’t scare the hounds out of them. Is there anything else I need to think of ? Hounds instead of the opposite to heaven ?? Really pro boards that is going too far 🤣

Are they going to be caged all day?
I would just make sure that the food & water bowls are fresh for the day and that the birbs aren't in direct sunlight(or have access all day to shade.) They'll be fine on their own.
How long is their day normally? Leaving a light on for the evening won't extend the "daylight" period beyond what they are used to?
Other folk may have other suggestions/questions.

Do you cover them at night? If so, is it worth leaving the cover half on so in the evening they can retire to darker part of cage if they wish? Also, easier to put cover down properly when you come home, without spooking them.

Also, easier to put cover down properly when you come home, without spooking them. Yes they have a cover I made from a piece of black cotton material. I did think about keeping the cover partially on the cage. I’m hoping to have their new roost perch by then so they will be able to have it half under the cover and half in the light.
