My humble opinion, I agree with everything Marianne Marlow wrote, especially sharing pics and videos. Might she like one of his old feathers if you have one?

Berek had wonderfully long tail feathers but alas he never had a chance to shed one in his short time with me. He did lose a lot of flights all at once though - for a couple of days he was grounded and couldn't fly - I must see if I can find them. Just in case. I'm not organised with the labelling of feathers, unfortunately

I, too, would tell her - make the effort to do so, rather than wait until she contacts you (or not). This way you are showing that you realise she was a part of Berek’s life and cared for him as you had come to care for him as well. Leaving it until she gets in touch, being asked the question of how is he and having to answer that he died a week, two, three, a month ago to me sounds a bit heartless.

I told Jackie yesterday evening and she responded a few hours later. She thanked me and was kind enough to try to reassure me, too. She was very kind.

I received today a condolence card from my local vet for Berek, signed by the nursing staff there. It was very upsetting at first but after the first shock, I appreciate it. It was meant kindly and I have sent a thank-you message to the Practice. It was very thoughtful (and very unexpected.)

That's really kind of them.
