Hi Everyone. Not sure if I a jumping at shadows or not. I thought I caught Gurgeh heaving for breath and tail-bobbing but now I am not sure. He seems to be swaying forward very slightly, tilting his body back and forth which superficially resembles heavy breathing and tail-bob but it doesn't look quite right. His tail is moving because his body is moving rather than in response to laboured breathing (to my eye). Healthwise, Gurgeh is very busy and shows few signs of being unwell but I have heard him sneezing or coughing a little the past couple of days. (I can never tell if it's a sneeze or a cough with budgies). He has only had this occur twice both days, each time a string of three or five sneezes/coughs. I catch him at rest a few times each day, closing his eyes, in addition to the usual Flock siesta times. Gurgeh's appetite seems fine and his weight is possibly the most stable and steady of all my budgies. I couldn't say how his droppings are, I will have to work out how to find out but I can say, I see no signs of worrying droppings anywhere - I never see any laying around that make me wonder, Who did that? Here is a short clip: 1drv.ms/v/s!AnyoyWilEZ_Xh8QSemCysuOwDEph2w?e=ZV6f0tAny thoughts are welcome. It could be that he is so busy he is making himself over-tired. Right now he is standing on a perch in the Daytime cage, burbling away and slow-blinking. It could be that he is perfectly fine and I am just still a bit raw from losing dear Berek last Friday.

I can't say 100%, but I've seen my lot do similar when they're having afternoon snoozy chat time, almost like they've locked their legs in place but are shifting a little to keep their balance.

I don't know but if you think its a slight breathing problem, putting him in your bathroom while you get your shower wouldn't hurt.

Not sure.. it's really hard to tell by that video. His tail is definitely moving, but he also seems to be adjusting his crop at the same time.

Hmm. He just had a couple of sneezes/coughs and now seems completely fine. It could be that he was having crop issues, as Marianne suggests, which are now sorted. I think I am just being jumpy.
I have all tomorrow to decide whether to keep the vet appointment I made for Monday. *watching*

I cannot find a single thing wrong with Gurgeh today.
I now believe he is sub-vocalising calls when he is "swaying". I can't hear him but I've observed his beak moving while he sways. I think he is silently burbling.
He sneezes/coughs more than my other budgies do but not to an alarming extent. I think I just put the two "symptoms" together when they aren't related.
I'm always jumpy after I've lost a dear friend. It's the belief that I don't do enough to keep them safe.
I will cancel the vet appointment this afternoon if it all remains as it is now.

My little Buddy always lets out about 3 sneezes as I'm covering them for the night. I've decided he's just clearing his air passageways before he tucks his head in his back.

Boba & Smudge are both sneezers. The other buds very rarely do it.

"Smudge, are you swallowing your food the wrong way again?" was a frequent question here. Now that begs the question of whether animals can be allergic to humans...

Hmmm, plenty of people are allergic to birds and have breathing problems when around them. Maybe some birds are allergic to people - we are always shedding skin cells.

I'm glad Gurgeh is ok.
Dexter sneezes most nights when I cover him up, and usually right in my face. I've come to wonder if he sneezes as a sign of displeasure, as he's telling me off for going away. That is pretty much the only time he sneezes.

I had noticed that when budgies went mad with the cuttlebone or with balsa, they sneezed a lot.
