I think they well get along. They sat slightly closer to each other as the evening went on. I think initially with all the flying about Dexter thought that Rito was chasing him. They did spent some time sitting facing each other on neighbouring perches, and at one point when I looked up Dexter was sitting very close behind Rito as he sat on the cage door. I had one on each hand eating millet and I was able to move them very close together but they flew away when the millet was gone. I have no idea what Dexter thinks Rito will do to him. Hopefully waking up with him there in the morning will make him less unsure of him. He's still getting on really well with Aster. They've had lots of chats, and I saw Dexter feeding him too. Aster has also been chatting to Rito. At one point Dexter and Rito were sitting on a perch with a 10cm gap in between them. Aster was sitting on another perch facing them, about midway between them and he was chattering away to them and they were both listening to him.

Aster sounds like the glue bringing the other two together; good boy!

Aster's a very good bird All the boys slept well, but there's not been much progress with Dexter and Rito. Maybe they will sit a little closer on top of the cage but it's hard to tell. Aster is keeping busy talking to both of them. I was mistaken in the dim light of the lounge last night about Dexter giving up his swing to Aster. They look very similar in the dark. Dexter slept on the safety swing, Aster on the swing at the front and Rito on the perch nearest Aster. Oh!!!! Aster and Rito were on top of the speaker and Dexter just flew up there and landed between them. The three of them are still up there. Dexter is talking to Aster and Rito is watching. This is the closest the 3 of them have been.

They stayed up there for a few minutes. Before the meeting broke up the three of them were facing each other and Aster was touching beaks with each of them.

I love these kind of budgie stories.
"Will they be friends? When will they be friends? Ooh, that was friendly!"
Better than any drama you see on TV.

It's important to review what has gone before, before proceeding ahead. Budgies over-intellectualise though, in my opinion.

There is definitely a calmer atmosphere in the lounge. It was mayhem for the first 2 hours of the day. All three are sitting calmly in the cage now.

Dexter and Rito are sitting on perches on the outside of the cage. Rito is preening and Dexter is chattering and watching him. They are about 6cm apart. I'm trying to be as still as I can so I don't disturb them

It felt strange not having budgies upstairs to see to this morning. I'd not used to having upstairs budgies too.
I've been out of the lounge for a while so I'm not sure how the boys are getting on. They sound fairly quiet. David is in there supervising so he'll give me an update.

If I have been quarantining, my room upstairs (where that happens) feels terribly empty without a budgie or two in there. It's hard to get used to it once the quarantining is over.
