I can do my ironing in the guest room again now. I've hardly done any since we've the birds arrived, which has been nice, but the pile has been getting bigger and bigger and I have no excuse not to do it now.

The safe distance between Rito and Dexter while on the same perch has narrowed to 4 or 5cm, and Dexter was happy to preen with Rito at that distance. Rito just hopped off the perch and then jumped back on and Dexter just shuffled away a little bit.

It all sounds positive, normal sizing up going on Took about a week for mine to settle and then a good while to fully establish the order of things. Jasper had been on his own a little while then in came two young whipper snappers, poor lad didn't know what had hit him

Thanks skysmum. They do seem to be settling down nicely. Dexter actually hopped on to a perch next to Rito on the way to a food bowl. Yesterday he was climbing along the bars or going out of the cage and back in a different door to get passed Rito.

I gave the boys a pepper top today. Aster and Rito tucked right in. Dexter watched from a safe distance. He looked interested but didn't join in. Maybe next time.
There was still a fair amount of screeching and flying about this morning, but Dexter no longer flees when Rito lands near him. Rito did look a bit dejected this morning and Aster and Dexter were very much wrapped up in each other. But he quickly brightened up. He's been busy playing with the toys and having chats with Aster. Both Aster and Rito really like the carousel toy.
Dexter almost chatted to Rito by accident yesterday. He'd was in full on chatter mode talking to Aster. Aster and Rito swapped places when Dexter wasn't looking and he turned round to carry on his chat and then realised it was Rito and stopped mid chatter, looked at him and then flew away.
I do feel a bit sorry for Rito. He's gone from being star budgie when the flock was upstairs to being the gooseberry at times now he's downstairs. Aster is being a super budgie and talking to both of them though.

I've now seen Dexter and Rito interact, with Rito taking the lead in some beak bashing. Dexter looked a bit unsure about it but didn't run away. There hasn't been quite so much flying about screeching this morning. Yesterday morning it was non stop.

It’s so lovely to have time to sit and catch up on the introductions. It sounds like a busy and noisy home once more, with lots of free entertainment. I wouldn’t have it any other way here as it’s so lovely to watch. I’m so pleased that Dexter has been so welcoming to his new friends. I loved the video you put up of Aster and Dexter chatting away. I look forward to hearing how things continue to go but I’m sure you feel so much happier yourself having a little flock again…even if it means you have no excuse to tackle the ironing!

I'm yet to do any ironing ariella but will have to before Monday. It has been lovely seeing Dexter get to know his friends. He's still very close with Aster, but he's getting on much better with Rito now and doesn't run away from him. They did some more beak bashing this evening which Dexter was more enthusiastic about.

Tail pulling definitely runs in the family. Rito was sitting on the outside of the cage and Aster's tail was poking out through the bars while he chewed the iodine block. I looked up when Aster squealed because Rito was pulling his tail. Admittedly a tail poking out through the bars was quite a temptation but Rito needs to learn to resist

Rito will have learned from the best
