I was just able to feed Rito individual millet seeds from between my finger and thumb, thanks to Ira for saying that she was doing that with Haru. He landed on my head so it would have been rude of me not to offer him anything. He was happy with 3 seeds and went back to the cage to do some preening.

Blimey, criswell, I feel exhausted just reading all that. I tend to take at least one other budgie along to the vet, but then my lot never cause THAT much of a fuss over being separated. Though they do outright refuse to be in a cage alone. Rito picked up target quickly when he was still with me. He's really trainable. Just also a little sausage!

Ira Rito is the cutest little sausage! He's just been hanging upside down from a swing. We've never had a reaction like that when we've taken one budgie to the vet in the past, but then we've never had a Rito before . He does seem to be super bonded to Dexter. Even if we had taken him too I don't think Dexter would have wanted Rito to feed him when they got home and that was the real problem. All 3 will be coming to the vets on any future visits in the hope that it keeps things calmer.

That's true. Rito would have been too full on regardless. Boy needs to sit on an ice cube. Yuki would cuddle up to Pippin or Indie after, but Pippin was low energy and would just sort of be there, and Indie would just give preens. Hopefully taking everyone along will help a bit, as they'll have all have had the experience and not been split up.

Since I missed Rito's hatch day yesterday, I wished him many happy returns today. He's busy having his head preened by Dexter so didn't take much notice. He makes the cutest little chirps when Dexter preens him. He really is the best friend Dexter has ever had.

All of Gwen's offspring love the preening and have spared no effort finding a suitable preener

Rito is such a good boy and he preens Dexter just as much as Dexter preens him. Sometimes they'll sit there taking turns with the preening. It's Dexter's turn to be preened at the moment

There was an urgent case for the DVD inspectors this morning. It was so serious that all 3 inspectors were needed.

That could be it Marianne Marlow but I'm not sure they were shiny enough. Or might be that they've never seen DVDs on that table before, which is one of the places they like to play. Rito does likes to chew the paper insert in DVD boxes and their cardboard sleeves, so that may also have been the attraction. No chewing occured on this occasion though.

A serious threat was detected by the inspectors today. Unfortunately it was far too dangerous for them to deal with themselves. Inspector Aster tried his very best to notify the human on duty by repeatedly calling and flying about the room, which alarmed Inspector Rito Dorito Terito who joined in the panic. Inspector Dexter, who is used to this sort of thing, calmly carried on with his morning activities. After trying many things to find out the problem, the human finally realised what the danger was and removed the glasses from the table, restoring calm and allowing normal activities to immediately start in that part of the room.
