I feel like it's my first day on the job sometimes.
Gurgeh started shouting from the other Forage Gym, Boba had grabbed his tail as he was climbing the ladder. About an hour later, I noticed Gurgeh on an external perch, head on his back, fluffed up and tail-bobbing. That was rapid, he'd been perfectly fine this morning.
I put the hospital cage into operation and waited for a good opportunity to grab him as he appeared rather unwell. The opportunity did not present itself.
No idea what is going on. He is now flying around, rubbing shoulders in the Forage Gym and seems OK although I am watching him closely.
I don't think he's well but he is confusing me somewhat.
Hmm. As I typed this, he's retreated to a sky snake, head on his back and tail-bobbing again. The hospital cage is ready if I feel I need to catch him.

It's just so hard to tell whether you're being over-vigilant or if there is a genuine health issue isn't it.

It's just so hard to tell whether you're being over-vigilant or if there is a genuine health issue isn't it. Agreed, very much. Gurgeh had been bounced a couple of time from his chosen perch so I resolved to pop him in the small cage so he could rest. He hopped onto my hand a couple of times, no bribe on offer - in itself, a worrying new development - but I couldn't taxi him all the way into the cage. I tried again with millet - Gurgeh latched onto it and wouldn't have noticed the end of the World so I got him into the cage almost without incident. Almost. I had to dissuade Boba from joining him, then Smudge, then Loric, then Maddy ... it was insane. Unfortunately, Gurgeh became agitated in the hospital cage and my reason for placing him in there - for quiet time - became moot. So he's out again. He's on an external perch & very sleepy at the moment, I will try to defend him from well-meaning attention from the Flock. Poor Whistle isn't getting enough attention this afternoon.

Is it possible that his tail hurt from earlier, maybe still a bit sore?

Is it possible that his tail hurt from earlier, maybe still a bit sore? That is possible, ffiscool. I wondered about it myself. Gurgeh is not one to make a fuss normally but he let out a big yelp when Boba grabbed him. And it was not by the end of the tail, it was much closer to the body so it may have been Gurgeh's rump that got bitten. I'll factor that into my observations. Good shout.

This is exactly my problem with hospital cages. If I put someone in there they go nuts wanting to get out.
I wasn't sure if I was being over cautious when I thought Indie was unwell, but I'm glad I took him to the vet. It's just so hard to tell with them sometimes.

Gurgeh seems fine today although there's a bit of jealous rivalry coming from Loric, it seems More on that elsewhere ...

Hopefully Gurgeh continues to be okay? Gurgeh is fit and well, Marianne, thank you! Clearly, his bitten rump was very sore. Poor lad!
