On the left a Girl On the right a Boy Two lovely little birds. Thanks! Quick question. I have 3 budgies 2 male 1 female. Will there be issues with the two males fighting for the female? Will they try and breed?

Hello, mrlogout31 . I second what Jellybean said: left is female, right is male. Beautiful birds! It looks like they wanted to pose for this photo! Contrary to popular belief, you might not have any problems with your two males and one female. You don't always need an equal number of both. (I've seen a couple of Facebook groups where people kept pushing the "even out the numbers!!!" belief). I learned from other users at this forum. It's quite possible that one of the males will have no interest in the female. I have five males, two females. There is only one couple, Basil and Willow, in the whole group! One small issue is that Basil and Topaz (another male) used to be best friends, but now Basil is often busy following Willow around. So I am glad that Topaz has the four other birds to bond with. So far, my other female doesn't seem to have a clear favorite male. And none of them are fighting over her. As for trying to breed, I've avoided creating any enclosed, cozy, nest-like spaces. I don't buy those "fuzzy huts"/tents (which have apparently killed some birds, also), or any toy that a Budgie can climb inside.

Agree with jellybean - hen on the left, male on the right. In my experience whether there is any pairing up is entirely decided by the hen(s). The boys can be as keen as they like but if a hen says “no” she means “NO”. And as Azalea has said even numbers aren’t necessary. So much depends on the personalities of the individual budgies you have.
