Sorry, loz . The only response I got in the FB group was an unhelpful "Birds make noise. If there is a concern about the noise, maybe it needs to go to an avian vet." Not surprising in a group based here in the USA. Maybe the "Love of Pets" lady can help. I apologize.

No problem at all, thanks for trying!

@loz perhaps a forum devoted to 'tiels might be more helpful.

I cannot help thinking this is a bird thing rather than a tiel thing.
It's to do with feathers after all.

A lot of pet owners here in the USA act this way:
"Your Budgie didn't blink at 3:34 PM like she usually does? She needs to be at an avian vet right now! Stop talking to people on the Internet and go, you idiot!!!"
And, at the same time...
"Sure, the vet says your Cockatiel shouldn't drink a whole bottle of wine in one night, but mine does it all the time!"
You're a bad owner if you don't panic and hurry to the vet because of every simple thing. But when you go, don't believe half of what he/she says.

If I was concerned about Quincy's health, I would see a vet and bully them until they consulted with an avian vet about whatever it was that was worrying Quincy/me. I don't have access to an avian, there's no avian within a 100 mile radius who is taking on new private customers so I have to work through non-avians. The local vets I've seen in the past do not impress me. My fault for not having a dog or a cat, I suppose. I'm just curious about why she gets cross with a naughty feather on occasion. It's not a disease or injury, it's just the occasional naughty feather. My reading of other forums when I've looked things up is, "I don't think I will trouble this group with my questions or concerns, it doesn't look worth the grief I'll get". I've asked on this forum, because I trust the folks on here. I've asked on a general parrot forum (as I trust the responses I'll get there). Interestingly, it's only on the budgie-specific forum I've had any kind of response so far!

Poor Quincy. Maybe she is just a sensitive soul. I think I'd sqwauk if I pulled a feather out. I hope someone is able to help you with this query. Barney makes a quiet squeaky noise when he bends forward and preens his tummy in a particular way. If I was worried, I would head to the vet, but it is a once or twice a day type of thing like you describe.
As for the lack of avian vets, have you considered moving house (to somewhere bigger with space for at least a few hundred more birds 😉)

I failed to mention that initially.

If they are small fluffies then she could just be over-preening herself.
Why though?

If they are small fluffies then she could just be over-preening herself. Why though? The feathers that elicit the louder sqwarks are partially encapsulated and, rarely, blood feathers. I get the impression that they are really uncomfortable and that is why she is keen to pull them out.

I'm not sure I have seen partially encapsulated fluffies before.

Even as a dog owner, a couple of vets have not impressed me. (One scoffed at us for giving puppy food to a six-month-old puppy.) Hence why I am not quick to make an appointment about every tiny detail that seems unusual. So I don't appreciate the "GO TO THE VET NOW!!!" attitude that we often encounter online.
I've also gotten better general answers on this forum despite it being a Budgie-specific forum!
I hope Quincy will be fine over time. Maybe this is some sort of phase.

Quincy is fine, I believe. She looks good, feather coverage looks normal, she's sweet-tempered and active, eating and digestion all good. So I am more curious than concerned with her naughty feather issue.
