This beautiful bird appears to be a female, but I wonder if she is old enough for us to be sure? She is as big, maybe slightly bigger than Willow and Violet, who are both several months old.
"Her" pose in the first picture doesn't show it well, but there is lovely dark green coloring on the back and part of the tail.

That is indeed a beautiful & striking budgie.
I've lost track, Azalea, is she new? You may have already introduced her but my mind is mashed potato these days.

We are maxed out on pets now! Some owners will put ten or twelve Budgies in the style of cage that ours have, but I want to stop at eight. And we agreed on a limit of no more than three bird cages, for a few reasons.

What is the new girl's name?
I believe you have Hamberley cages? They are half the size of the Elegances I have. I wouldn't be comfortable with twelve in a Hamberley - nine in an Elegance is crowded enough.
(I know, I've had sixteen plus a chocobo do an overnight stint in one Elegance cage but then, they didn't *have* to do it. I think they just wanted to see if it was possible.)

We have a couple of names in mind, but haven't decided yet.
This cage is a different brand, there are two or three brands on Amazon (at least the US website) . It's a long "double cage" with removable divider (which we removed).

That sounds like my Elegance cages.
Twelve budgies easily possible but it will depend on them all getting along. Fortunately my guys do, 99 times out of 100.
There's nothing wrong though with erring on the side of space and caution.

There's nothing wrong though with erring on the side of space and caution. There is a YouTuber who I like, but her bird room has a few large cages and several small cages that are stacked two-high. She has about 30-something birds of 14 or more species. There are lots of toys and perches, and her birds are loose for plenty of time, but I don't want to reach a point where cages are on top of each other. Maybe the birds are fine with it, but it's always made me uncomfortable.

Upon reflection, I would hesitate to recommend more than a dozen birds to look after, to be honest and that's assuming a full-time carer! It's hard to keep up with each individual bird beyond that. At least, for me it is.
I've had to stop looking at rehoming websites. I cannot take on any more birds. I just hope my friend who hears all about local parrots needing rehoming stops telling me.

I understand the need to rescue them...it's how we ended up with eight Budgies!

loz I hear you. Perhaps tell them not to let you know about any new birds. There does come a point when you have to make sure you can look after the birds that you have, which sometimes means saying no to new ones. It's hard for sure.

I'm constantly undecided about how many budgies works best for us and for them. Four feels like a nice number, but I'd like less so I can give them more individual time but more so that they have other budgies to keep them busier. Of course, I need to do another AGY test in July and would need to chat to the vet about the risks. It's probably best for us to let the flock dwindle, clean like crazy, and then start from scratch.

I've heard that, if you have the proper space, an aviary with 20 - 40 Budgies is a beautiful sight to see every day. Some people also house Budgies with Cockatiels in a large aviary. But we enjoy having more individual time with each bird.
