Our young female budgie Babybird is out of controle today. She is imposible to come in contact with and the attention is gone.
She flies around and lands everywhere its possible and only sits still for 5 seconds. She lands on my mothers head and my head and our shoulder back and forth. Its worse than zoomies.
I try to let her sit on my finger and talk to her but the attention is gone and so is she within 5 seonds.
Is that hormonal signs ? Or are she bored or stressed ?
She is also molting and have alot of pins in her head.
Usualy i can sit on the floor and play with her or scratch her head with my nose, but today she is horrible. She also wants to sit and bite in stuff and places she is not allowed, like electric wires and the blinds. Out of controle !
What is wrong with her ?
If we catch her and put her in the cage, then she bites the bars and squarks loud and try to press her self out thru the bars. while jumping around like a monkey.

Sorry but this did make me giggle, I know it’s frustrating for you though. My money is that it’s her moult, they can become very quiet or very grouchy and naughty. Could also be she’s hitting her teens but I think she could be a bit young for that. I’m sure it will pass, deep breaths 😂

I'll second Skysmum. Sounds like a serious case of the itchy-scratchies to me.

My Budgies were showing some of the same behavior last month. And they had pin feathers, too. I think loz said it might be hormones? Mine are acting a little more normal now.

How is her behaviour now? I hope she is calmer. Yes she is more calm now but we think she has a bit of adhd since she dosent sit still on our finger for longer then few seconds unless we have something in our hands that she wants.
But when she sits on the playground, then i can scratch her head with my nose. Just like i could with Piphans.
We call her speedy bird
Also we hope she gets more calm when she gets older.
