I put down 2 pairs of my own bred Spangles. Both laid 7 eggs, both have hatched their first two youngsters, and are feeding them well, so fingers crossed, my first DF Spangles. When i first started breeding budgies two years ago, i tried to buy some DF's, but they were very expensive, and hard to come by, so if i can breed some this year i will be well chuffed.

Would love to see some pics once they have started to get further on with their colours i.e. after being in pin (got a soft spot for spangles)

Hi all. They are not featherd yet, still very ugly! Will get some photos soon. Well Barrie, 8 out of a hundreds not a lot is it. Perhaps why they are so expensive, and elusive.

Ok, partial success, one DF Spangle. Although all eggs (14) were fertile, one pair hatched 4 chicks, one dying after 4 days. Out of this pair i got the 2 grey spangles, and my first blue spangle. The 3 remaining eggs were all dead in shell, very late on. The second pair hatched 3 chicks, 1 dying at day 3. Out of this pair i got the yellow DF, and the grey green spangle. Again, the other eggs were all dead in shell, very late on. As i am into Spangles, even though there was a lot of dead in shell, all the hatched birds were spangles. Both pairs were first time breeders. They are now going back down, so hopefully with a bit of experience now, they may hatch more. imageshack.us/g/840/dscn0996i.jpg/
