My baby Drift has started up wheezing. Got some staining above her cere too (and I know it's not vit. A deficiency, they get vitamins). I'm right in thinking this is a respiratory infection? She doesn't wheeze all the time, only when she's startled, and then it's very laboured. After a few minutes, she's back to normal, Splash isn't affected, and there's no other symptoms. Anything else it could be? I've told my mum, who's a veterinary nurse, and she's going to talk to a vet at her practise about it. I've been noticing this for a couple of weeks now but only really got worried today, a wee bit more wheezy than normal. Updates tomorrow once I've got the vet's opinion. Of course, he won't have seen her, but I'd rather not stress her out if he can identify it without a visit.

Sounds like it well could be a respiratory infection. Hope mum comes home with a prelim diagnosis.

I'm sorry that your Drift is wheezing. I hope that your mum and the other vet come up with something for you.

So no light shed on what's causing Drift's wheeziness, but we noticed the cage was looking rather dusty. It's been given a thorough spring-clean, and we're going to watch and see if that helps. If not, she'll have to visit the vet in person.
