Thanks BGM Hezz..Yes sulky cautious Elfie,i will do the cage step ups as i want him to trust my hand in the cage again...Is it ok to bring him out on his perch until he trusts me again? He is alot more energetic but still doesnt fly around an awful lot (4-6 times) then he just sits on his perch..He was sat on my finger the other day and i nearly made myself fall asleep blinking at him and he was nearly asleep too,we sat like that for a good half hour ha ha..

'Course you can bring him out - you are still you and he is still himself, you both have to trust each other. I have the same issue with our rescue dog, Mac, at the moment, because he didn't recognise his name (how can anyone have a dog and not teach it it's own name? ??), but with the very wet weather we are having, a decent walk is a bit hard so it is down to the park for a race around off the lead. My son panics every time I do it as he thinks Mac is going to hare off and we won't be able to catch him, and he won't come back. Yes, it is a worry, but how are we going to know if he will respond without giving him the chance? While we have had a couple of times when he has been slow to return from racing off, he has come to us eventually and the more we do it, the better he is becoming. See where I am going with this? Trust Elfie, he knows his tree, and if you feel you need to, go back to the bathroom. I think you two will be fine though - it was in the cage where he was afraid of being caught up again that was putting him off - he has no reason to be cautious outside.

Elfie knows who loves him! He is not silly!! ;D While some birds do sulk for a while, most come around very quickly, in my limited experience. (The exception being Blue when I went away for two weeks visiting my folks. Even though he was home with the boys, he sulked all the time I was away and for about 4 days after. I very nearly took him to the vet, when I got back, I was so worried! Little beggar was just punishing me! )
